It's been far too long since we've taken Nala out, so Tuesday morning we decided to rectify that! There's not much I can say about Nala that I (and a lot of other walkers) haven't already said, but if things were different, we'd have her home with us in a heartbeat. She trotted out of the kennels with her muzzle on and tried a few times to rub it off against our legs. We told her that it'd be off in just a few minutes and she followed on patiently, though occasionally pausing to give us the sad eyes. Whoever takes Nala home will have to have a lot more willpower than us, because those eyes could definitely have you sleeping on the floor while she takes the bed! We passed one of the newer residents in the lane and Nala had a little bark, but calmed down quickly once we moved away. Her bark can sound quite gruff to someone who doesn't know her, but the fact that the staff want to rehome her with another dog just goes to show that she loves her doggy friends. She's just not always sure how to say hello properly. All other dogs we passed on our walk (about 3 or 4) were met with some interest but no barking whatsoever!
Out of the lane we took her muzzle off and she had a good cwtch with us before we set off again, stopping only to roll on the first patch of grass we passed. She walks so well on lead and constantly stops to check on her walkers, loving nothing more than a good cuddle. We walked over to the opposite estate to enjoy the peace and quiet away from the traffic and Nala got some much deserved attention from some of the snack van workers. She really is such a beautiful dog. When we stopped for treats Nala continued to behave impeccably - sitting, giving paw, even a beg! There's no sign of her teeth when she takes her treats and, because we'd stopped for more than a minute, we had another lot of cwtches and some kisses. Nala does her utmost to make sure your face has a good wash! We headed back and Nala stopped every now and then for another cuddle, making the most of her time out of her kennel. She did bark at one more dog while she waited to go back in, but calmed down when one of the staff came out to give her a cuddle. The staff at the Home take such good care of their dogs, but Nala needs to be in her forever home sooner rather than later. She needs the stability, security, and continuous TLC that only a forever family can provide. As much as I'd miss this gorgeous girl, I'll be so happy when she's found a home of her very own. Don't worry, Nala. We'll keep trying until you find them!
(i call this her 'shy bodybuilder handshake')
(zooming in for some kisses!)
