*tiptoes in* 'Are you asleep Norman'? Hello Aunty Sooz! Do come in m'dear! I was just having a little snooze, resting my old bones, but I really could do with a little walk if you would be so kind!Let's do it! Bas was more than happy to step out with Norman, a very gentle and dignified old boy, who was glad to feel the sun on his back this afternoon... Norman has been brought in as a stray. He is deaf, and although his sight isn't great, he had no trouble navigating his way around, so he obviously isn't completely blind. He wagged his tail happily when he met Bas, and the pair trotted down the lane for 10 minutes like old friends... Then is was back to the office for an afternoon snooze, no doubt hoping that his owners will be there when he wakes up...... Kennels is no place for old bones. If Norman's owners don't come forward for him, he will be available for rehoming from 18th August. If you would like to meet Norman, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. We took this handsome old boy out for a walk on Monday. The staff advised us that he might not go far, so we missed out our usual loop of the park and just walked over the bridge to the bus stop and back - probably for the best as he did seem a little tired on our way back. He's a gorgeous boy and very gentle, if a little shy at first. Being deaf and partially blind this is no surprise, so make sure you let him know you're there before you give him a pat. He wasn't too interested in having a fuss when we first started off but did warm up to us after a while. He certainly seemed a lot happier the closer to the Home we were, so I imagine in familiar settings he'd be much more cuddly. His pace is slow, as can be expected with an older dog, but every so often he'll do a little trot and encourage you to catch up with him. He's also a big fan of sniffing, as it's certainly his strongest sense. Norman wasn't bothered by other dogs or traffic, though when we stopped for water he did get a little startled by a passing truck. He took treats very gently, though needed a little guiding to them. He is such a sweet old lad and deserves to be spending his twilight years on a warm and comfy sofa, not a kennel. Fingers crossed he finds a new home soon!
