We had a joy today meeting Tuco! He's a fabulous boy, very gentle and sweet, and when he's standing next to you he likes to lean into your legs He is clever too, sits when asked... and takes treats incredibly gently We went into the vets room and discovered that Tuco is a big fan of toys, and really loved playing with the variety we had on offer Although he loved the toys, he was very good with them and not in the least bit possessive over them. Tuco really is fantastic, and we enjoyed his company so much! Get down and meet him if you're a fan of big breed dogs! Tuco is available for rehoming on 31st October. If you would like more information, or would like to meet him, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I honestly don't know where to start with this wonderful boy! I went to the home with the intention of walking my favourite (Sasha), but as she had been rehomed on Friday, I chose the next best thing! Tuco came out with a big smile on his face and I was instantly smitten. I had seen him in the kennels a few times and as to be expected, he was a lot happier outside! You just can't judge a dog by his behaviour in a cage! Tuco is quite big and to be honest, I was expecting him to pull. He didn't at all. He was very well behaved and had impeccable manners. Constantly checking behind to see that I was there, he really was a delight to walk. I can't describe how impressed I was with Tuco. You can tell that he just has so much love to give and hopefully soon he will have a family to give it to. Whilst we were out, an off-dog lead fancied a sniff of Tuco but Tuco didn't let a nosey dog faze him, cyclists and children were also no issue for him. We walked for approximately 2 hours, with a few stops for photoshoots along the way: As much as Tuco enjoyed his walk, I could just tell that he would be equally as content sat on a sofa with a family who loves him. Such a loving, kind boy who can sit, give you a paw and best of all, will spare a few kisses! I have found my new favourite (although I hope he doesn't stay for too long)

I have to agree with everything Bethtapper has said in the last post. We have walked this guy three times now and remain in awe of him. He is a big guy but walks very well, no dragging behind Tuco, he is far too much of a gentleman! Fabulously handsome, he exudes controlled power but has a very loving nature, walk with him and you will quickly notice the 'Staffie' like glances back... just to check all is well. If you stop he will stand patiently waiting, and often moves in for a quick cuddle. Very gentle taking treats I honestly can't fault this guy, and having spoken with a number of walkers, neither can they. Solid gold 5 star recommendation....... no idea why he still here !!

Wow what an absolutely stunning animal Tuco is and by his epic write-up's a proper loving gently giant. With all this in his favour I can't see Tuco hanging around hotel CDH for long. 💞💞

One of the risks you take when you join the purple pilgrims and start walking dogs is that you may lose your heart to one in particular and end up taking them home We are so pleased that Tuco has been adopted by two of our volunteers, we couldn't think of a better home for him!

So many apologies for the tardy response. Thanks Cheryl, you are right, a 'danger' of being a walker is the opportunity to meet someone special, and i guess that's what happened here. We walked this guy three or four times before we realised we didn't want to give him back! Thanks to to all the staff down at the centre, they were professional and helpful throughout the process. And after introducing our cat without too much trauma we were overjoyed to take the big guy home. Lets just say bringing a full grown, athletic, dynamo into our home, has been a little like throwing a handgrenade into our old routines....... But we wouldn't change it! Tuco is funny, freindly, energetic and now beginning to settle into his new home. He does take up a lot of sofa He loves company and wants so much to be around people, his size and build can be daunting to some people but his good manners and general charm soon wins over any hesitant guests The cat watches him from a little distance, choosing to reside upstairs currently but they are slowly accepting each other and we have had no real issues with them at all ..thankfully So all set here for Christmas, guess that's a couple of extra presents to buy!! Best wishes to you all, and Merry Christmas to all the staff, volunteers and purple pilgrims, you really are doing a great job Thank you x Derek, Marian. And of course Tuco
