Please welcome the delicious little newbie in Kennel 28 - Copper!
This young pupster was brought into the Home after being found as a stray. At the tender age of six months, you would think someone must be missing him, but no-one has come forward to claim him.
We took Copper into the garden for a few minutes, just to let him stretch his legs.
Coming to get ya Miss Becky!
You coming for kisses Copper?
*Whispers* 'Nope! Snogs are for staffies - but I've heard you have a stash of pate!
Fair enough young fella! Have a bit of the good stuff!
Although Copper doesn't seem to have had much in the way of basic training, he is verrrrry foody, which will make training a doddle!
Copper says 'there is no such thing as too much pate'!
With the help of hand signals and pate, we persuaded him into a 'sit', well, a 'nearly sit'
But true to his breed, Copper is constantly distracted by smells. He has the attention span of a gnat!
Despite being a little overwhelmed by his change of circumstances, Copper is just a pup, and he couldn't resist play-bowing to the autumn leaves
Beagles are pretty adorable, but if you are considering sharing the next 12-15 years with one, we would strongly advise potential rehomers to do a little bit of breed research first. They can be fabulous pets, but their breed traits are strong, they can be difficult to train to recall, and are not for everyone!
If his owners don't come forward for him, Copper will be available for rehoming from 11th November. If you would like more information on him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm
