Please say 'Hi' to Doris We took Doris into the garden for a bit of getting to know you time, and she made it very easy for us! No messing about, this girl is all about the balls! Is this what you want Doris? You bet!We don't know who her mammy or daddy were, but judging by her behaviour traits, we think maybe there's more than a smidgen of smooth collie in there! Her ears are a little sore, and she is on daily medication to reduce the inflammation, but she seems in good health generally. She is focussed, and oh so patient! Got it! Jackie threw her ball a hundred times, and each time she would dash after it excitedly, and bring it straight back,, drop it at Jackie's feet, and look pleadingly from the ball to Jackie..... throw it again! throw it again!Despite her excitement at THE best game in the world, Doris has fabulous impulse control, and waited as long as it took..... And she's as gentle as can be! Although she has lost everything she has ever known and loved, and her ball is her most prized possession in the whole wide world, Doris will happily let you take it from her mouth Doris is available for rehoming immediately, and if you would like more information or would like to meet her, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm For more information about the rehoming process at Cardiff Dogs Home, please click on the link below: REHOMING PROCESS

It’s almost a year since CDH kindly entrusted us with the care of Tirion (formerly Doris). Thank you CDH. We absolutely adore her. Tirion joined our busy household of four school age children, two adults and a cat and has taken everything in her stride from the moment she arrived. She dotes on the kids and joins the youngest two every evening for their bedtime story. For the eldest two children a walk or game of ball with Tirion helps dispel any teenage angst. And for us adults, nothing eradicates the stresses of everyday life better than being welcomed home by a beaming dog with a spinning tail. During the past year we have had lovely walks in the country and even some swims in the sea with Tirion. We trundled up to Scotland this summer, stopping en route in campsites and Travelodges during which Tirion behaved impeccably throughout. However, Tirion is no goody goody. Occasionally, her halo slips. And if, as the old adage goes, that laughter is the best medicine , then Tirion is the best doctor. Many times her lofty ambitions when searching for a stick to bring home has had us in stitches as she staggers home with the with the heftiest branch she can find, sweeping any innocent bystanders off their feet in the process! Perhaps the biggest compliment of all for Tirion during this past year is the fact that she has charmed our cat Emil. He has accepted her into his kingdom (begrudgingly at first, of course since he is after all supreme ruler). Recently, however, we even saw Emil lick Tirion’s paws. No greater accolade for Tirion than that! Here’s hoping that many more families will be blessed with a wonderful canine companion from Cardiff Dogs Home. Head on down there now – you won’t be disappointed! (Sorry if the photos haven't appeared -haven't quite mastered this yet!)
