Please meet the very beautiful Lexi Lexi was recently signed over the home following the death of her owner. She is about 5 years old, and she was clearly a very loved girl. She is a very sweet and gentle girl, but she is a little sad and bewildered at her change of circumstances. We haven't really seen her wag her tail at all, and she wears a worried little frown, as if she is trying to make sense of all the changes in her life... We took her for a gentle stroll by the river bank And just being out in the fresh air seemed to cheer her up a little... But she is still missing her beloved daddy, and we really hope Lexi isn't waiting too long to find someone to love Although she has been signed over to the Home, Lexi won't be able to leave until after her vaccinations have kicked in, but she can meet potential adopter in the vet room, and will be able to leave from 7th Feb. If you would like more information, or would like to meet Lexi, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Brought sweet Lexi for her afternoon walk today. She's such a lovely dog and great on the lead, very shy at first with her tail firmly between her legs, but I was determined to get a tail wag out of her. It took a good ten minutes of cuddles, chat and a good back scratch in Grangemoor Park before I got to see that tail start to swing! She was also delighted when a man on a bike slowed down to talk to her. So two tail wags in one session! Call that a successful walk!

Lexi gave us the pleasure of a lovely walk this morning. She wagged her tail for most of our walk and particularly seemed to enjoy the company of my eight year old daughter. When we sat for cuddles she jumped up to my daughters lap and went in for kisses.... Wagging tail each time my daughter ran she wanted to run too. She would have loved some off-lead fun!
she responded well to gentle scratches, particularly on her back and under her collar, she nuzzled for more.
She walked well, she's strong but not difficult to manage.
She was interested in what was going on around her but she didn't bark or seem worried by anything.
She has an air of sadness about her, but who wouldn't if you'd lost your beloved friend and are wondering where they've gone... She was very gentle and you can see there's a hint of a very happy Lexi beneath the sad eyes, she just needs the right person so she can fully commit to them and be their companion for life. I'm sure she would bring such joy and love to her new family and would adjust quickly once she knows she'll be loved in return.
until she finds that special place in someone's heart I'll happily walk her and give her cuddles, but I don't think she'll be at CDH for very long.

There are so many new faces at CDH that after taking Buster and Snowflake out we were a little unsure who to walk next. Lexi's gorgeous sad eyes were too much to resist, and I'm glad we didn't try to! The staff challenged us to see how many times we could get Lexi's tail to wag, so we knew we would be in for an interesting walk. As with any dog facing unfamiliar people, Lexi was a little timid at first and torn between getting a fuss and wanting some distance. In no time however she started to warm up to us, and would look back now and then to make sure we were still there and together. She seemed quite happy to walk between us or at heel, with barely any pulling the whole walk. Lexi didn't show much interest in treats, or at least our treats, but did show some slight interest in a tennis ball. The bouncing spooked her a little but when we rolled it on ahead of her, she would start to run after it before losing interest/confidence. There was definitely a moment of her inner playful puppy shining through! She showed some interest in other dogs but behaved impeccably around them - no barking or attempts to pull us over to them. We did get some tail wags now and then, mostly as we were walking but a few when we'd stopped for water. It was so wonderful to see her little ears perk up as something caught her interest, if only for a few seconds. Lexi wasn't overly interested in having cwtches with us at the time - who can blame her when she's meeting so many new people all the time - but seemed comfortable to have a pat or two as we took a break. Lexi has the saddest little eyes but I've no doubt that once she's gotten to know someone, she'd be the most affectionate and loving little lady there is. She's still dealing with the loss of her beloved owner and a lot of upheaval, so it's going to take some time, but with lots of tlc and a new forever family to cherish her, she'll get there soon enough.
