Please welcome the verrrrrry gorgeous Shayla
This lucky girl has been spending lots of time with her favourite Aunty, volunteer Christine, who gives some of our dogs extra special days out, and occasional B&B, especially if they need a bit of extra help settling in.
Christine has sent us some lovely pics, and a fabulous write up on our gorgeous girlie....
Shayla came home for a short break from kennels today. She jumped into the back of the car as soon as I opened the door and was as good a gold as a back seat passenger.
In the house she has a good sniff round and although there were a lot of other dog smells around she was clean and didn’t even do the smallest marker wee. Shayla is a dream round the house, if you are sitting watching television she wants to be on your lap or as close as she can get, but if you are busy working she simply curls up and goes to sleep. She is completely unfazed by the vacuum, but was no help at all with the dusting.
Although she is obviously a very strong dog, she is easy to walk on the lead and doesn’t pull at all .... unless sees something really exciting, but even then is quickly brought back to ones side. I tried her with several types of toy without much success, we had a few games of half-hearted fetch, but far her favourite thing is being cuddled.
She is so gentle with treats, no teeth just velvet lips and you get a lovely sit and paw, but this didn’t spoil her appetite, dinner was eaten up quickly and seconds requested. Another point in her favour is that I was cooking much more interesting things but she never once jumped up or put her nose on the worktop.
The only times I heard any noise was when she made the softest barking noises in her sleep and a quiet whimper when it was time to go out.
She is an absolute sweetheart and would a lovely low maintenance dog for anyone who enjoys easy walks and lots of cuddles.
Recommendations don't come much higher than that!
Shayla is available for rehoming immediately, and for more information, or if you would like to meet her, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm.
