Please say 'hi' to Deeta Deeta was brought into the home by the wardens when she was reported seen wandering around on her own. She has seen our vets, who say she is still lactating and has probably whelped very recently. Who knows what happened to her pups? As Deeta's owners haven't come forward for her, it seems likely she has served her purpose, providing a litter of pups to sell, and she is no longer wanted. Deeta is taking a while to settle into kennel life, no surprises there, she must be wondering where on earth her babies are, where her own bed is, her blanket, her favourite toys, the people she knew and loved. She is a very affectionate young girl, and took a great deal of comfort from Miss Janet's tender cwtches... Deeta is a very affectionate and loving young girl... As she isn't on the walkers list yet, she is on soft quarantine in her kennel until Sunday, but when we brought her down to the riverbank for a toilet break she clearly loved the warmth of sunshine on her face... Deeta is a little out of sorts at the moment. She has a very upset tummy, and is clearly extremely anxious about her sudden change of circumstances, but hopefully she will settle over the next few days and will feel a lot better once she has a chance to meet our Pilgrims and is getting some regular walks - and lots of cwtches! It seems doubtful that Deeta's owners are going to come forward for her, and she will be available for rehoming from 29th March. If you would like more information, or would like to meet her, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. We've been meaning to take Deeta out for a while now and I'm so glad we finally got around to it this morning! She scrambled out of the kennels like a bottle of fizzy drink shaken up and set a very brisk and happy pace all the way down the lane. Deeta was going to make the most of her morning walk! She calmed right down though after expending some of that pent up energy and walked the rest of the way quite happily just ahead or at our side. Deeta is a staffie through and through and even after only knowing us for a few minutes she made sure to keep checking we were there every so often. After warming up to us she upped her game and made sure to sniff our hands as she checked back, just to be doubly sure we hadn't disappeared since she last looked! And Deeta doesn't play favourites, so every time she'd check on one of us, she had to check on the other as well. Deeta was far more interested in walking or giving us cwtches than other dogs, though she was very polite when we were approached by some off-lead dogs who didn't have the best recall. She did seem a bit nervous, and no surprise with three strange larger dogs shuffling over, but handled herself like a pro and her tail was back to wagging once we managed to send them away. We tried to give her some treats but what we had obviously wasn't very appealing, as Deeta would take it very gently then drop it on the ground. I think she was doing her best not to offend us! She'd only recently been spayed (I think, she was on the 'off the grass' list) so we tried to keep her a little calmer so she wouldn't strain herself, but I've no doubt that this is one very playful little girl who'd only be too happy to run around the garden with you. She was only too happy to settle for some cwtches and kisses at the benches, though we had to make sure to keep her away from the water as she seemed quite interested in the edge. Soon enough, Deeta! She also tried to have a sneaky roll in the grass but forgave us when we stopped her. It won't be long before she's allowed and then she can roll around and have belly rubs all the live long day! She's just the sweetest little staffie, so gentle and affectionate despite all she's been through, and was such a joy to take out in the gorgeous sunny weather. We'll definitely be taking her out again if she hasn't been snapped up before then! (guess who discovered the 'continuous' photo function on her phone...) (don't worry, I won't post them all )

Took Deeta out on Thursday and though initially she was very excited she did calm down. There were 2 moments in our hour long walk when she had a bit of a mad moment but I settled her down and she walked beautifully afterwards. She is a sweet girl who is not bothered by other dogs and is very loving. Given a little time and patience Deeta will be a perfect companion for some lucky person.

Had a lovely walk with Deeta on Sunday - this girl knows how to put a smile on your face!!! Her smile is just infectious Deeta is on the walkers list for experienced walkers, I was told this is because she's been a bit pully & a little giddy. When we first set out she was excited but we set off straight down the lane - no fusses, no treats, no staffy kisses....just walked & this seemed to help Deeta as she literally just walked, there was no jumping & no pulling. By the time we got to the end of the lane the lead was pretty much slack. Deeta doesn't show any interest in passing dogs but does love passing humans. On more the one occasion Deeta was longingly looking over at families....is this little lady missing her small humans? Who knows but she just wants affection. The real fun for deeta came when she found a patch of grass with her name on it....cue grass rolling 😂😂😂😂 Deeta had a ball!! After all that rolling it was time for some refreshment...but Deeta doesn't want it from the bowl...she wants it straight from the bottle 😂😂😂😂 This girl is lovely & needs a home of her own
