If you like your girls big and beautiful, gentle and kind, great sense of humour, and stunningly good looking, Patsy could be the one for you! Patsy arrived as a stray, and we were hoping that her previous owners might have come to collect her. She's in great condition, and has clearly been loved. She is fabulously friendly around people, and had great fun in the garden with two of our young pilgrims yesterday! Patsy just loves everything! and everyone! People, treats, toys...... and she's very attentive! It was rather warm yesterday in the sun, so we invited Patsy into the rehoming hub... What happens in here Aunty Sooz?
We chill Patsy! If you'd like more information about Patsy or any of the lovely dogs for rehoming in Newport, or would like to meet her please contact the staff at Newport City Dog's Home on 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm -4pm Monday to Saturday or pop in for a visit! Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include first vaccination, flea and worm treatment, and a microchip. It is a condition of the rehoming contract that all dogs neutered/spayed and Patsy will be spayed before she is rehomed. All applicants will be homechecked prior to approval.

It's very remiss of me to have not posted about this gorgeous girl before. She really is absolutely fabulous! She's been feeling a tad blue the last few days. Let's face it we all do sometimes and as much as we try to give this girl lots of walks and playtime and cuddles and affection, it must be difficult for such a gentle soul to be in kennels. Earlier in the week Patsy & I went for a good old mooch through the long grass along the river. She was enjoying being out and feeling the sun on her face. But I think what Patsy really longs for is a sofa to call her own and a plentiful supply of cuddles and tennis balls. So today when we arrived at NCDH cuddles were the order of the day for Patsy. And of course, one of our young Pilgrims was only too happy to oblige. Patsy really is the sweetest girl, with a wicked sense of humour and a lot of love & affection to share. Hang in there lovely girl - we know you'll find your furever home soon!

I've been looking forward to walking with Patsy ever since she arrived at NCDH, so it was a delight to (finally😉) have the opportunity to take this verrry popular pooch for walkies! I heard that she walked beautifully while out with other volunteers, and sure enough, Patsy was a model of laid-back calmness on our amble. She strolled quietly and serenely in front, preferring to enjoy the fresh air at a more leisurely pace - which is amazing considering how long she had been confined to her kennel prior to our walk. Patsy also waited at every kerb when I asked her to, and crossed the road only after I had given the OK to do so - good girl Patsy! We encountered a few dogs while we were out, and Patsy never displayed unfriendliness towards any of her canine counterparts - she was happy to say a polite hello, or to respectfully move on if the other pooch wasn't keen on a bow-wow howdie. Patsy is an absolute dream of a dog. I was utterly captivated by her charm, beauty and ever so sweet nature. I really do hope that a special soul with everlasting love in their heart and time in their daily life to *always* care for and cherish Patsy is close at hand for this gorgeous golden girl.

It's hard to believe that this girl is still in kennels after 2 months. We are all totally lost as to why this is. Any how, Patsy has been home with me and my children for a weeks R&R as she's been feeling rather down in the dumps about her situation. Prior to Patsy coming to stay we already knew that she had a lovely temperament around people and children. That she wasn't too worried about other dogs but that she wasn't really that keen on cats. What we learnt in addition to that is: - Patsy is spotlessly clean in the house. No accidents at all. None. Nada. Nothing.
- Patsy knows all her basic commands including sit, down, paw, off. She understand stay but it's something that could maybe use a little more work.
- Patsy travels well in the car. Wearing her harness we clipped in the seatbelt and she settled down for some cuddles on the backseat whilst she travelled.
- Patsy sleeps in her bed at night - no problems at all. Well maybe a little gentle snoring but we couldn't hold that against her.
- Patsy doesn't really like small furries. So no hamsters, rabbits or such like please.
- Patsy walked beautifully on her harness. She was interested in other dogs - and sheep! - but friendly interest. I mean "Why on earth are those clouds walking across the field and making funny noises Jenn? What's that all about??"
- Patsy was good with household noises e.g. doorbell, telephone, washing machine, etc. She would have had a good game of chase the hoover had I let her but quickly understood that it wasn't really acceptable.
- Patsy can be left alone for short periods of time up to a few hours with no problems. She didn't bark or chew anything.
There's not much more I can say about Patsy's stay other that she was the perfect house guest and she returned to kennels feeling much happier and chilled out. If you think you have a Patsy shaped hole in your life, please please come down and meet this gorgeous girl. She's longing for a home to call her own!

Great to see Patsy enjoy some well deserved R & R, Patsy you're an absolute star. I've love walking with Patsy but she really does deserve a home to call her own. Come and visit NCDH if you can offer this lovely girl a home of her own. Bx

Hi, Patsy does have an active application however the home will take up to 3 applications on any dog. If you are interested in meeting Patsy then either give the home a call or pop down to meet her asap. She has shown herself to be very gentle around young children but I can't comment further. 🙂 Has Patsy been rehomed yet? Would anyone know how she would be around a baby? Really want to meet this beautiful girl
