Please welcome the lovely Chico!
This darling boy has only just arrived at the Home. Apparently he was found tied up to a post in the City centre
It's anyone's guess who did that. Could have been his owner, could have been a finder who didn't have time to bring him to the home, but in any event, this sensitive and gentle lad is now in the tender care of the staff at Cardiff Dogs Home.
Chico is a very sensitive and gentle boy. He is suffering from a very sore skin condition, his underbelly is extremely tender and inflamed, but he has seen the vets and is on medication, so hopefully he'll be feeling a lot more comfortable in no time.
Despite his size, and the fact that we had the very best pate (with grateful thanks to Sian and our lovely friends of Victoria Park), Chico was gentle as lamb when we offered him morsels from our fingers....
Chico was keen to see what else was on offer in the vet room - and he seemed rather impressed with the menu!
For starters, it's duck!
Yep! Nothing but the best for our boys and girls! Main course, courtesy BURNS
Fancy a coke with that Burns Chico?
Yeah, but I can't get the top off!
I'll have water instead if I may!
Despite his recent change of circumstances, his strange and new surroundings, and everything else an abandoned dog has to cope with, Chico was the epitome of charm when we met him, friendly, gentle and very loving...
So we decided to award him 'The Green Collar of Friendliness'! Congratulations Chico
On behalf of all the stray and abandoned dogs who have come into our care, Chico would like to say 'thank you' to Andrew O'Sullivan for this special gift from our Amazon Wish List, and to EVERYONE who brings or sends gifts to our precious strays. For dogs like Chico, who arrive with nothing, no lead, no collar, and not even a name, to have something they can call their own means more to them than anyone can possibly imagine!
We never cease to be amazed at the kindness of strangers
If Chico's owners don't come forward to claim him, he will be available for rehoming from 20th April.
if you would like more information, or would like to meet him, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm.
