Please give a warm Friends welcome to Ruby Ruby is a beautiful blue staffie girl, and she's about 5 years old. A spring chicken in staffie years! Ruby arrived at the Home with two of her besties, Broni and Sky. All three dogs have been used to churn out puppies all their lives. Broni had to spend a few days at the vets when she arrived due to a bowel obstruction, and all three girls were definitely in need of a little tlc. Broni Sky and Broni Within a week of arriving, Sky and Broni have already found fabulous forever homes, so this thread is all for you Ruby! Ruby is already a hit with our walkers! Off you go beaut! We have been told that Ruby can be a little picky about the doggy company she keeps, so we decided to ask our resident dog-temperament-tester Bas whether he could help with Ruby's assessment. We played it by the book! A nice parallel walk..... Keeping a safe distance between the dogs... Who both seemed perfectly comfortable near each other... Getting closer.... And in no time the two were ambling along in quiet companionship As Ruby has been signed over, she is available for rehoming immediately. If you'd like to meet her please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME for more information. TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, neutering and microchip.

I simply have to comment on this beautiful, gentle girl.
Staffies have for so long had a bad reputation that they simply don't deserve.
Ruby came into the home with 2 other female blue staffs. None of whom were in the best condition. All of whom had lived in less than desirable conditions producing pup after pup.
It wouldn't be unreasonable to expect that the 3 girls might not be the friendliest of dogs. But that's simply not the case.
Broni & Skye found homes within a week of arriving and now Ruby is ready to move to her forever home.
This girl has the most gentle beautiful nature. She loves to cuddle and snog like a Staffy! When taking sausages from my fingers, she was careful to be soft mouthed - not a hint of teeth. She loves to roll in the long grass enjoying the feeling of the sunshine on her face. She has proven herself to be good with people, children and other dogs.
Please don't overlook Ruby based on her breed. If you're looking for a dog who will love to go for walks, play in the garden and cuddle on the sofa then Ruby could well be the one for you!!

Hey, how is ruby with cats? She hasn't been cat-tested as far as we are aware, but do pop up to see her, and if you are interested in putting in an application you can arrange to bring your kitty up for a 'compatibility test'! We promise no kitties will be harmed and no dogs noses will be scratched, it's all perfectly safe

Hi Eleanor, We're sorry that you didn't get to meet Ruby. She really is a lovely girl. I believe that the Dogs Home feel Ruby would be best rehomed with as an only dog or with a male dog. If you're interested in rehoming another dog with your current girl, you might find someone at Cardiff Dogs Home as they have more kennels and so more dogs. Good luck with your search! ☺ Just been down to the pound not aload to see her as we allready have an older female dog, gutted as she looks gorgeous x

Ahh Staffies - don't you just love 'em! They can be different colours, shapes and sizes, but typically share a common character trait - an abundance of natural heartfelt affection for folk. Ruby certainly isn't an exception to this rule, and her sociability shines through with pooches too. During our most recent walk together, she met three off-lead dogs at once, and they all received a warm and friendly greeting from Ruby. It's always a real joy to spend time with sweet Ruby. Besides being utterly adorable, Ruby walks like a dream on her lead - she's quick to respond to my 'wait' at the kerb, and her lead rarely becomes taut. She's also unfazed by cyclists whizzing past on the pavement, and HGVs trundling by on the busy road. But the cherry on the cake is the opportunity for cwtches with Ruby on the sofa in the rehoming hub - it's an absolute must! After churning out puppies for the past five years, Ruby truly deserves a whole lotta love and respect from her forever family. I'll be keeping my fingers tightly crossed that such a time will come along soon for this gentle, gorgeous girl.

Been to Newport Centre today and have taken a like to Ruby. Just need to know if she would be ok with my 6yr old cat. Ruby seemed so loving and docile and I would love to come down Saturday with my son to see how they both get along x

Hi Rhian, Oh Ruby is such a gorgeous girl isn't she! Considering what a tough life she had prior to coming to Newport City Dogs Home she does have a sweet nature. We'd suggest that maybe you pop down with your son to see Ruby again this weekend and spend some time with her. At that point if you wanted to you could complete an application form and we could arrange then to do try for a cat test with Ruby later in the week. The home is open 11am -1pm and 1.30pm-3pm on a Saturday for rehomers. Been to Newport Centre today and have taken a like to Ruby. Just need to know if she would be ok with my 6yr old cat. Ruby seemed so loving and docile and I would love to come down Saturday with my son to see how they both get along x
