June is a beautiful young collie cross, with the most exquisite and unusual markings.
She was found whimpering in pain after suffering a badly broken leg and trauma to her tummy. We can't be absolutely sure how she came to be so badly injured. We've been told she fell from a second floor flat and may have then been involved in a road traffic accident. She was rushed to our vets for emergency surgery, and she has now been brought back to the Home to complete her recovery.
June is little more than a puppy, maybe 6 months old, and although her young little body has suffered pretty severe trauma, she was in very good spirits when we brought her out for her pictures!
June won't be available for rehoming until her leg has completely healed, so she is likely to be with us for a while. The staff will take applications on her immediately though, so if you'd like to meet her do pop down!
Recovering from major limb surgery can be a slow and challenging process for a young dog. June's recovery is likely to take up to six weeks or more, and obviously she will be on crate rest and very restricted exercise for weeks to come. Depending on how well she settles into kennel life we may be looking for a respite fosterer for her. Managing a young pup in these circumstances can be hard work, she will be bored and desperate to get back onto her feet, but it's important that her soft bones are given a chance to fully heal over the next few months.
If you are at home most of the time, don't have any other pets, and have the patience of a saint, please let us know if you would like to foster June until she is well enough to be rehomed.
If you would like to meet June, please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME for more information.
