Please welcome Buster, our newbie in kennel 25 Buster is a crossbreed, a little bit staffie maybe, little bit terrier possibly, he's quite a slight and delicately boned little guy. Buster has been a little despondent and distracted ever since he arrived as a stray. For most of the time when we had him out, his tail was low, and a little tucked... He just seemed a little down in the dumps And we really couldn't get him interested in anything much. Buster wasn't inclined to show off his party tricks, so we just let him do his own thing, and he did have a little graze on some free pate... But it didn't really hit the spot for Buster. He was very compliant and well mannered, but didn't want to look straight at the camera for his rehoming pics... And he was very patient with us, so we just took a few profile shots... And Buster just laid down on the floor, and let out a huge, sad sigh... Buster is obviously missing his family, and there was little we could do to console him Buster is past his due date, 13th July, so clearly his owners are not coming for him. Poor poor boy. He's probably worried about his family, wouldn't it be something if they cared a jot for him too If you'd like to meet Buster please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Today we had the pleasure of sharing our first ever Cardiff Dogs walk with the delightful Buster. He tends to pull on the lead, maybe because he's so happy to be out & about, happily trotting alongside & in front of our wheelchair, turning to check we were still there often. He seems bombproof regarding loud traffic & sudden sounds & wasn't bothered by the sight of other dogs, just kept trotting along when he saw them. I jogged a little with him & he picked up his pace & loved it! We had some tail wags while we were out & he seems a really nice dog who just needs a sofa to lie on & someone kind to live with & take him for walks where he can relax & be himself. Our rescue cats wouldn't be keen or l'd love to have him myself as he's a very manageable boy & has a sweet little face with which l've fallen in love.

Oh this poor darling boy! Buster was our last walk of the day this morning and as he'd recently been neutered and it was getting warmer, we were asked to only take him out for 20 minutes or so. Even in that short time though we couldn't help but fall a little bit in love with Buster and his sad eyes He walked beautifully on the lead down the lane, turning back to check on us occasionally or stop for a quick reassuring pat. He seemed a little down today, possibly a combination of being in the kennels and his recent surgery, and we made sure to take things slow and steady - though I'm sure on a better day Buster would be quite happy setting a more brisk pace and taking a nice trot in the sun. Buster didn't seem phased by the traffic or sounds of building works, and though we didn't really pass many dogs I don't think he'd be much of an issue around them. This is just an older gent who's quite happy to get on with life! As we came back towards the estate Buster started to walk slower, meandering around and locking us with those soulful and sad eyes, so we walked a little further into the other end of the estate and sat for some gentle cwtches and treats. Every treat was taken so softly and with the utmost care, and though we didn't try to ask for a sit or paw in exchange, Buster is definitely a very intelligent boy. Unfortunately our time was close to up and we didn't want Buster to get too worn out, so we headed back down the lane slowly, Buster shooting us sad glances the entire time. This handsome and gentle boy should be stretched out on a warm and comfy sofa, not in the kennels wondering where his family have gone. Hopefully it won't be long before he finds his forever family, where he can no doubt put those sad eyes to better use guilting them into cwtches and treats

We took Buster for a little walk down the lane this morning then he came home with us for a little break from kennels. He is much smaller in the flesh than he appears in his photos, he is really quite a dainty little dog and walks great on the lead. He travelled well in the car, snuggling into me on the back seat and after the short journey home he came in and had a sniff around and a nice drink. Then he found some toys and he was in his element. He loved us to throw a toy and he would retrieve it and bring it back for us to throw all over again. That went on for quite a while, he has loads of energy for an old guy (not sure how old he is?) and he also loved to carry toys around in his mouth... Playing tug of war with the toys kept him happy too... Playing so much tires you out when you are getting on a bit... He was also happy to have a nap on my sofa... Until he heard the bin men going past and stood up for a bit of a nose... He was an excellent house guest - clean, quiet, playful and he gave us loads of kisses too! We would have him back again in a shot but I don't think he will be in kennels for long. He is the perfect pet for someone!!

Well, that's weird. I can view all my uploaded pics on my PC but when I use my smartphone I get a load of squares saying my account needs to be updated for third party sharing?? Apologies if no-one is able to view my pics.

Apologies if no-one is able to view my pics. It's not you Helen - it's THEM!!! Photobucket is holding to ransom all the pictures people have uploaded via their website, and are demanding £360 in payment to have the pictures restored. Basically, what they are saying is 'Give us the money or you'll never see your dog again' This has caused an international scandal, people all over the world are no longer able to view their pictures, and for us it means that all the pictures that have been posted over the last six years via photobucket could be lost forever Have a look at this thread, there are alternative hosting sites you can use... Having taken Buster for a short (very warm) walk Monday & seen how much happier he is it's a treat to see Helen's lovely photos of him in a home environment. He really is a smashing dog & somebody's going to be blessed to share their life with him.
