Gotta love a wrinkly face Please welcome Jade, who has been signed over by a neighbouring local authority pound. She's a very pretty girl, and was very quiet and docile when we brought her out for her pictures. Jade has a perpetual look of perplexion on her pretty face, as if she's trying to work out what on earth is happening, where her family is, why they have abandoned her... and for the most part, she just looked at the door, as if she was expecting her people to walk through it any moment... Jade couldn't be consoled with treats, or toys... Sorry Aunty Suze, cuddly toys are just not doing it for me... We're hoping that Jade will find her mojo again. As she has been signed over she is available for rehoming immediately, and if you'd like to meet her please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I met the lovely little Jade today. She’s ever so gentle, especially on the lead. She loves to explore and sniff. We passed a few dogs while were out but Jade didn’t seem bothered at all! She’s still very nervous around people and didn’t respond to treats but hopefully with a bit more time and love, Jade will come out of her shell and be the perfect addition to her new family! Good luck, Jade

I walked Jade this morning. She is a shy tentative girl who walked beautifully on the lead, didn't react to anything or anyone, wasn't overly jumpy , but just seems to be bewildered....as am I. How anyone could not want this gorgeous girl is beyond me. Lets get her a home for Christmas x

Oh, Jade! I have never seen a Shar Pei 'in person' before and was quite surprised by how small they are, expected Jade to be at least a Lab size, but she is quite short and skinny really. After we took this lovely lady out I wanted to learn more about the breed, and from what I can tell she is a "horse coat" variety, if potential re-homers care about that. Jade feels most comfortable when she is on the go and really, really, reaaaallly likes to sniff things thoroughly, not in a "I sniff the ground as I walk" kinda way, but rather just stopping and sniffing a specific corner or a bush for ages. She is a little bit quirky like that! We found that Jade gets a bit anxious if we sit down somewhere or try to give her fuss, so decided to let her do her own thing for the most part. She walks flawlessly on the lead, otherwise, likes to be one or two steps in front of you, but not enough to make the lead taut. Smart cookie! Jade seems to be one of these special dogs whose trust you have to fight for, but once you win her over she will most definitely become your most loyal friend in the whole world. Sniff-sniff.. Sniff-sniff-sniff... Sniff-sniff-sniff-sniff-sniff (...) Oh, good afternoon! Didn't see you there.. Let me just... ... get to know you... SNIFFFFFFFF

Hi guys, Think I have fallen for this gorgeous girl, so could I have a bit more information about her please, how old is she? And does she have any health issues. I already have a 12 year old blue male shar pei, so am well aware of the problems they can have with their skin, eyes and ears and obviously the costs that these can incur. I had to have my 14 year old weimaraner put to sleep a few months ago and Theo is missing having a play mate very much. A problem I have is that I live in Somerset which is obviously not just around the corner from you guys. I found out about jade because my daughter lives in cardiff and she has been keeping an eye out for me. If you feel I would be a suitable mum for her then let me know and I'll make arrangements to come a meet her.
Many thanks Toni griffin

She is awaiting surgery to fix that age old problem these doggies have with their eyes ( i always forget the name!! ) but other than that Jade seems to be fine. Im unsure of her age though she isnt very old but she is a small girl. The main thing with Jade is she is just totally bewildered the poor thing has no idea what is going on and she is constantly trying to find a familiar smell or a face she knows. You would have to come down and meet her and bring your pooch with you for a meet and greet. The best thing to do is contact the home and they will be able to tell you everything you need to know about this lovely girl. 😊😍😘 cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5a302dca77d03/VID-20171212-WA0009.mp4

Took this lovely girl out yesterday. She's looking a bit sad as she's recovering from her eye surgery, but she was happy to be out and about and sniffing EVERYTHING!!!! Such a sweetie, walks nicely on a slack lead and no problems passing other dogs. She's not the sort of girl to cuddle up on a first date but she did lean into me at the benches and enjoyed a little back scratch. She takes her treats gently with a soft mouth. A smaller and not too wrinkly type of Sharpei, just perfect in my eyes. ❤️🐾😘🐶

Poor little Jade always looks so glum in her cone, but we were lucky enough to see her without it on our Tuesday walkies. Her eyes are healing up nicely, thankfully! I wanted to take Yasmine out and we asked for a good dog for Dad to take out just ahead to keep Yas motivated in walking - someone not too strong or fussed about other dogs - and the staff suggested Jade. She was an absolute star the entire time! The weather wasn't too great but Jade took everything in her stride, not complaining once despite having to stop multiple times when Yasmine wanted to head back. She walked wonderfully on the lead and wasn't fussed at all about other dogs she passed. Dad didn't have much of a chance for cuddles but I imagine Jade wouldn't say no to a cwtch or three with her forever people! I'll try and take her out again on her own so we have more time with her, but hopefully she'll be stretched out on a comfy sofa soon enough. Excuse the poor quality of the photos - I only had a quick moment once Yasmine had been taken back to her kennel and the weather wasn't very helpful. This is one gorgeous girl who needs to be met in person!

Jade recovered well after her eye surgery and is now snuggled up safely on her forever sofa!
