Please say 'hi' to Gentle Jim This sweet fella was found wandering around with his little friend Jane, and both dogs were brought in by the wardens. As Jimmy isn't on the walkers list yet, we took him down to the riverbank for a toilet break and a bit of respite from the noise of the kennels. Jimmy seemed completely bewildered at his recent change of circumstances So we didn't press him or try to put him through his paces today, just reassured him gently If Jimmy's owners don't come forward for him he will be available for rehoming from 15th January, and if you'd like to meet him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I didn’t realise he and Jane came as a pair, shame they couldn’t be re-homed that way... I guess not many people will or can take on 2 dogs 😔

Jimmy seems to have gained a lot of confidence since his move to CDH, no doubt thanks to all the wonderful staff and volunteers working tirelessly to help sweethearts like Jimmy realise they're safe now. He practically danced out of the kennels, full of beans, and did a few hops up to say hello but settled once we were out and down the lane. Jimmy has a lot of nervous energy to use up and he zig-zagged his way down to the estate, taking in all the new smells that a few hours of no-rain had brought about We made it down to the start of the Ely trail without any issues, Jimmy was just happy to be out and about! After burning up some of that pent up energy, Jimmy walked wonderfully at our side, but he did have a few manic moments where it was really obvious he just wanted to run around and play with everyone and everything! The busy traffic didn't seem to bother him much, if at all, but I think he appreciated a break from the road and a trot in the grass. On our way back we came across an abandoned football by the boat yard and Jimmy had, well, a ball! He picked it up, threw it around, ran in little circles then bounced back onto it, making playful noises the entire time. There were no hard feelings though when we had to head on home, and he left the ball behind without a fuss. Jimmy took his treats very gently and sat patiently while I fumbled with my camera. He showed a lot of interest in other dogs but zero aggression. I'm sure a handsome, sweet, and affectionate boy like this won't be waiting too long. He'll make the perfect addition to the right family!
