It's been busy busy busy at Newport Dogs Home over the last few days, and we're going for quality over quantity on the pics this week!
Gucci is about 3 years old, and has been signed over to the Home after her career as a breeding dog has come to an early end.
Gucci is a little bit on the back paw, as she hasn't really lived as a pet, but she's looking forward to finding out what that's all about! Her rehomers will need to be patient with Gucci as she learns how to be a 'normal' pet, but she has been an absolute delight with the staff and volunteers, and once she understands that dogs should have love in their lives we're sure this little lady will give it back in bucketfuls!
The staff will give preference to applicants who have, or who have previously owned a brachycephalic dog, and if you'd like to meet her pop up to Newport City Dogs Home! TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays.
Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment and neutering.
Hi we are looking for a companion for our 2 year old cairn terrier cross miniature schnauzer, Andalou and we were hoping that we would be able to get in touch and visit Gucci. Andalou is very quiet and gentle but does get excited when meeting new people & dog friends.
Gucci has met a number of the dogs at Newport City Dogs Home and seems unbothered by them. At the moment she is still finding her feet as her previous life doesn't seem to have been the easiest for her. She is a little reserved when meeting new people but every day she gives us a little more.
Why not call the home and check on her application status and arrange to pop down and meet her?
Miss Gucci hasn't been looking her best recently and when she came back from her walk this morning her coat looked particularly dull and dusty. So one of our young volunteers, Molly, offered to give Gucci a bit of a spa session. We think that this may well have been the first time Gucci had ever had a bath as at first she really wasn't sure what to make of the while occasion. But with Molly's gentle touch, Gucci soon relaxed and enjoyed her pamper. She particularly liked having the folds in her face gently washed and wiped with a soft flannel. Some cuddles in the afternoon sunshine and Gucci was all set and good to go again. Can't understand why this girl hasn't found a home yet. She may be a little shy at first but once she gets to know that you are deserving of her trust she's happy to cuddle or run in the grass with you. If she's not the one for you, then maybe you know someone who could give her that happy ever after she's waiting for so patiently.
Took this little girl out for a walk today She walks lovely on the lead and was happy to plod along sniffing everything she passed. She isnt people oriented and although doesn't look for cuddles she happily took some strokes and petting. She was patient and not bothered by my 3yr and 7yr old who came along today. Gucci really lit up though when she saw other dogs. Lovely little girl
Gucci has met a few of the other dogs at Newport City Dogs Home. Indeed she perks up remarkably when in the company of other dogs however as with any of the dogs at Newport City Dogs Home she would need to meet any potential housemates as the chemistry has to be right ☺️
