how long does it take for the all clear then ? In my ignorance i presumed it would be virtually straight away ! (mine have both been castrated)

The way I understand it is that there is still a good chance in the first 2 weeks after castration and to be totally safe, some people say 1 month or so. The other thing is it does take a few months for the dogs hormones to subside so they are likely to act as if they havn't been neutered for 2-3 months
There is also a theory that if a bitch in season does mate with a neutered dog, it can cause a phantom pregnancy
So if your 2 were neutered longer than 3-4 months ago, no probs at all ;D
I'm sure somebody that knows a lot more than me will be along though

Hi, I have reserved Aztec and was hoping to take her this weekend- that was before she came into season. As we have an unneutered male puppy this has complicated/delayed us being able to take her. We still want Aztec, but if cleaverclan is able to take her straight away we would take a step back as this would be in Aztec's best interest. I realise she's been in the Home for too long. . . . been following her online for ages

aw ,what a lovely thing to say / do .That is so kind of you. I am a firm believer in what is meant to be , will be, and although i think she is absolutely adorable, and will make someone very happy,i dont think that is us . I am sure a couple more weeks in the pound wont do her any harm at all.She is obviously meant to be with you if you want her and i am sure we will find a dog that is meant to be with us too.All the very best of luck with her and thankyou very much for your kind and selfless gesture

Thank you, I must admit my heart sank at the thought of losing her. I also believe what's meant to be will be and I'm sure everything will work fine for all. Thanks again, take care.

Hi, I'm Yon McNeill and it's the first time I write on this web/site. I've just moved into a house in Cardiff with my partner due to work. I've always had a dog since I was 9 years old and would very much love to have one with us in our new life in Wales.
Regarding Aztec, this dog is absolutely beautiful and I'd like to know if she's still looking for a home and family.
Kind regards,
Yon

My son and I dropped into the Home today to register as dog walkers and we bumped into Aztec returning from her walk. As we didn't have time to take a dog out, I was really pleased to bump into one of the dogs I had been following on here. She really is gorgeous!! Very friendly and gentle. Her fur is beautifully soft - I expected it to be all wiry like my dog Patch - another Staffie X. I hope her reserve gets to take her home soon! ;D
