This is Dasher who is a 4 year old Whippet Collie x who we adopted when she was about 11months old. Dasher was rescued from rover way and was in a very sorry state when we saw her in the dogs home - underweight, bite marks on her neck, she'd had fleas and mites and she had lots of bald patches from urine stains and also from biting her tail with stress and fleas. She needed a lot of work when we first took her home. nervous and not used to being a house dog she would jump when the kettle boiled or the microwave pinged!! she also used to roll over and wee when she saw another dog - not one of her best tricks! as you will see from the photos she is now used to the finer things in life and totally rules the house! she has been a bit accident prone in her time and has dislocated her front paw TWICE! pet insurance is a must with our girl!! she got bitten by another dog the other day but luckily has not been bothered by the experience She is a champion squirrell botherer and has the best dog dreams ever! not quite sure what we used to do before we had her!!! I think she is testament to not overlook the shabby ones because all they need is a bath, a feed and a lot of love and they transform...

I think she's wonderful, those ears are fanatastic! I also like the 'different' dogs, no one can say, "Oh, I've got one of those!". Because they haven't.

What a lovely thread and I love those ears!! ;D I remember walking my girl (also a collie / whippet or other small lurcher cross) on the trail behind Rover Way when a couple of boys came up to me and offered me fifty quid because "she'd be perfect for ratting!" I thought you must be kidding matey, there isn't any money in the world that would make me hand over my dog to you!

Dash has been eyed up a few times as a perfect courser but we always tell them she's too soft and hasn't got a killer instinct! The ears are great - always moving and often pointing in completely different directions! She is a very spoiled princess that's for sure! Shell X

Dasher went to the vets yesterday and got called 'tubby'... *blushing* I personally think its winter padding! Honestly I have seen more fat on a twig! The boy has been banned from feeding her nibbles from the fridge all the same... What's 1kg between friends eh?
