Many people appear here find their perfect hound and stride off into the sunset without looking back but It strikes me that many regular posters here in time must become if only'ers....
So what ever your if only ( mine is 3 high energy pooches already filling the sofa) who are the 'if only' dogs at cdh who have stolen your heart?
For me it (was) puzzle, currently Smudge and always just beneath the surface Sir chad.

ahhhhh, if only..... Billy, who got rehomed this week Teddy, tan and white little terrier Rehomed just after Christmas and Eddie, scruffy terrier (aw, Eddie, you was my fav'rite) It's all a bit like desert island discs, so hard to choose, but if I didn't have dogs of my own, I have to say that having spend so much time with Miss Snoop over the past few weeks, that girlie has got right under my skin and into my heart. She rolled over on her back today for a tummy rub, and she had 'simply bliss' written all over her face

It's funny how they do that, most of us totally have a 'type' /breed we go for but sometimes a dog very different gets under our skin....

Hi Skye,
I've enjoyed walking every dog I've had out, but it's true, some get under your skin. I would have loved to have taken Jade, Freddie or Beauty Rottie. I didn't know I liked bully breeds until I started volunteering. I also had a big soft spot for Meg/Tallulah the collie. Fliss, my partner, really clicked with Cheyene the husky, Pork Chop and Sparkey. She clearly doesn't have a breed type! Our bold cat and small terraced house meant that we wouldn't have been right for any of those dogs.
My favourite dog at the moment is Snoop. To see her skipping around the pen so happily and wriggling around inviting tummy rubs is heart melting. Yes, I can just see her curled up snoring away on my sofa cuddled up to Lulah the cat. (I have a vivid imagination)

Aww THinkp I think snoop deserves that kinda happy ending I get a lot of guilt over dogs like pc, I like Staffies a lot and I feel bad not being able to bring em home with me but for me it only took one glance and I physically couldn't leave Jake spaniel at the home he HAD to come home. My better half Tom, jokingly keeps telling me that he doesn't want to end up like that couple on the news who had 56 dogs! So we are stopping at 3.....

Every time I come home from walking a dog I say these words to Kirsty...... "if my 6 numbers come up on Saturday we are going back on sunday for *insert name of dog we have just walked* I absolutely love them ALL! I also swoon over every single scruffy Terrier that graces this forum (whether I get to meet them or not!) but for me, at this moment in time my if only is also Snoop. Im involved in the Snoop Loop and to see this girlie all relaxed and having fun is just the most heart warming sight ever. I know its a no go as my 3 crazy, noisy terriers would not help her in the slightest but when my 6 numbers come up this Saturday, she will be with us living in her own wing away from the naughty terriers ;D

Ooh Becky. I forgot to mention your Pickle! I had a big crush on her, as did Fliss. We'd been doing a lot of bigger dog walking and the first time we walked Pickle it felt like taking a little white cloud for a walk. She's adorable. But I had a strong feeling that cats would not be her thing! I was so happy when she came to live with you and Kirsty.
Skye, you Jake is a heart breaker. I can see why you fell for him! X

Denise, I think you could be right about the cats!! Pickle chases ANYTHING that moves!! We often chuckle about your comment that you posted about her that she seems "interested" in birds. Ahem, interested is a slight understatement!!! I have never heard a squeal like it in my life when she spots a pigeon/seagull on the way to the park. That squeal can stop traffic!!! x

Ha ha ha. My friends think I am slightly odd because I have a great love of pigeons. Not the fancy racing ones but the skanky ones you see everywhere. When we walked Pickle Fliss said, I think you and Pickle might share a love of pigeons...but from slightly different perspectives.. xx

Skye lovely thread. The ones that really got under my skin so far are... *ponders* Malibu / Mali / Booboo ... I loved this boy. I loved sitting by the river with him having what we called "quiet time" and he'd put his head in my lap and close his eyes, or I would play with his ears and he'd watch the duckies... and gone was the stressed out barker that would go all hullaballoo in kennels. He'd do this deep sigh when he relaxed and I loved him, proper loved him. When I saw him (now Sam) with his new dad Derek at the Tremorfa dog show, I had the most massive lump in my throat and almost cried when I cwtched him... His new dad must have thought I was a little bit mad. Taloola / Loolieboo / Megsie Moo ... my lovely girl. I never saw the narky side of her others had reported. I saw this bright, clever, totally switched on and soooo eager to please girl, that would do so well doing agility or flyball, and who was so delighted when I brought her a little red ball to play with. She really looked up to her accompanying human, wanting to please you, be good and clever girl for you. She was so proud of that red ball, carried it everywhere on our walks. And she would pull the funniest faces when you fed her treats she really liked, proper "nomnomnom" faces. ;D I keep in touch with Wiccaways on FB to see how she's doing. And two oldies in particular, Puzzle and Chad. Puzzle was 16. A bit stiff in the hip but a puppy at heart. So grateful for a bit of affection. You could chat to her and she'd look at you like whatever you were babbling was actually interesting... Sir Chad... the Sean Connery of dawggies. Such a funny character... still flirts with the young ladies and tells the young lads where to go. ;D ;D ;D Loves turning up at "meet 'n eat" events. I am rooting for Chad to be as lucky as the other three.

Awwww what a lovely thread!! ;D 'if only' I could take them all!! There are a few who have stolen my heart, of the dogs in at the moment I love love love Roxy and I can't believe she's still there!! I also have a soft spot for Sparkey and of course the lovely Snoop!! ;D Of dogs that have found their forever homes I loved Specs and Dyson, whippety/lurchery summin or others which aren't really my usual 'type' but couldn't help but fall for the little sweethearts! Then there was of course Malibu, really really miss him but so glad he went to find a lovely home
