Hi just thought id introduce myself to the forum, my name is Nicola (I am not a Beckham, Becks was my gorgeous Beagle x JRT who sadly lost his life to a Tumour on his brain in February this year. He was the heart and soul of our house and we miss him loads. So recently I decided I needed a new four legged friend not one to replace Becks as that would be impossible but we miss coming home to a wagging tail and believe it or not the barking and hoovering the fur the house is much too quiet! So that's how I ended up addicted to CDH forum and the home itself hopefully can get to know a few more dog lovers and possibly get into the volunteering side of things x

Hi Nicola! to the Forum, it's a great place ;D so sorry to hear about Becks, it's very sad to lose a much loved pet you will no doubt meet many of us if you get involved with volunteering for CDH (if you meet Susie aka Baglady she will definately grab you for some volunteering!). Keep an eye on the events section and just put your hand up if you fancy getting involved with anything, we always need hands ;D Cheryl x

Hi Nicola!
So sorry to hear about your loss, but it's wonderful to know you feel ready to start looking for another four-legged friend. There are so many in need, and just not enough good homes for them.
I do a bit of dog-walking for the Home (they're currently doing a review of the dog-walker database, but will be opening up opportunities for new walkers to register soon) and have done a spot of fundraising too, but am pretty new to it all.
Hope to see you soon!
Jo

Ah thanks guys we have been down the home several times over the last fortnight so fingers crossed we'll be able to provide one with a loving home. Hopefully see you around there soon, I think we are heading back down today!

Welcome to the forum. ;D Have you had a look at the rehoming section? For some reason it's brimming with JRT and JRT crosses at the moment, all of them such fabulous individual characters. Even IF the walkers register is currently closed as it's being reviewed, if you have a stroll through the kennels and you meet a pair of eyes you have a connection with, they will still be happy for you to take the dog for a walk... and you never know where that may lead. No one would pressure you into a decision or anything.

Hi Nicola, Really glad to see you here on the forum and interested in Friends and the work we do and the rehoming opportunities available. We have a few 'Meets and Greets' coming up which are a really good chance to get involved and meet some of the dogs at the same time. If you look at the Events section, it will tell you all. We're a really friendly bunch and welcome everyone who comes along with open arms so we'd be really pleased to see you. If you don't fancy that, there are lots of other ways to get involved Really sorry to hear about your loss of Becks, it's a hard one. If you're ready, keep an eye out on the 'Dogs for Rehoming' thread and you never know.... ;D
