This is an event organised by George Thomas Hospice. Dogs and their two legged partners are invited to join us for a relaxed four mile sponsored ‘walkies’ through beautiful Bute Park in aid of George Thomas Hospice CareSome of our volunteers joined in last year, and took two of the CDH dogs, Chuckles and Malibu to support the event, it was a little bit damp, but they had a great time - pics HEREThe organisers have invited us to join them on the walk again If anyone would like to take a CDH dog, please pm me (admin) and we will see if it is possible to arrange with the staff at CDH to bring some dogs out on 'day release' Sponsor forms can be downloaded HEREFriends have also been invited to have an information stall at the event if we have volunteers to cover - I won't be available, but if anyone would like to offer to cover this, it would be a nice opportunity to reach a bit of a 'captive audience', raise awareness for Friends and CDH, and also show our support for George Thomas Hospice. Any takers? Please post here or pm me (admin) ;D In the meantime though, the organisers would like to come to CDH next Monday or Tuesday at 11 o'clock to get some 'joint publicity' pictures to promote this event. I know it's difficult on a weekday, but is anyone available to come down to CDH so we can get some of the dogs for rehoming out for a photo opportunity? The more the merrier, please let us know if you can make it, and I'll confirm with the organisers which day would be best for us. Thanks everyone Susie x

Susie , I can do monday but not Tuesday. Bern Monday it is ;D Thanks Bern Peeps - photoshoot at CDH, Monday 11 am - who's coming? As an added bonus, shall we take a few of the dogs out for a bit of 'walkie-talkie-getting-to-know-you'? Seems to me it would a waste of camera time if we don't post up in walkers tales I'll bring the treats ;D

If anyone would like to join the walk with a CDH dog, please contact CDH directly, well in advance of the walk. It will involve taking a dog by car to the start of the walk, so you'll need to ensure you can transport a dog safely, and you'll need to sign a transport disclaimer. Raising sponsorship for George Thomas Hospice would be appreciated, but it is by no means mandatory - you can do a kind thing just by going along and giving one of our doglets a nice day out!

wish I could help but its the same day as Survival of the fittest down the bay which I have stupidly entered! We should do a survival of the fittest dog day - it would be fun!

Just bumping this up and reiterating what Susie says above. It would be great if any dogs can be brought from the home ( if possible wearing ''I need a home ''coat Caz DD and I will be outside the Temple of Peace Cathays Park from 9am. The walk starts at 10 am but last year they were late getting away after the officials had made speeches. It is usually all over by noon. If you don't want to walk just bring a dog down so they can be seen by the returning walkers, that means being there about 11am. This is Sunday so arrangements will have to be made with CDH tomorrow.

An early sunny Sunday morning saw nuggie and me at The Temple of Peace and Health in Cathays Park set up ahead of George Thomas Hospice ''Walk for Hope'' A quiet start but more interest when they returned from the walk, a lady said ''seeing you here has jogged me i shall go to the home this afternoon'' and some people asked about the work of FCDH. One of our active supporters Hazel did the walk with her friend and a lovely Staffie. A very pleasant morning and made £58.75 A few pics follow.

Had to add the photo below of a handsome Staffie carrying a headless rider. Small piece in the Echo today where FCDH get a mention in conjunction with G Thomas

Brilliant photos Well done Bern and Caz for supporting not one, but TWO fabulous good causes on Sunday I know you were both up at the crack of dawn, and did an amazing job flying the flag for Friends and CDH, as well as supporting the George Thomas Hospice. Sooooooo proud of you both, you really are troupers!
