Our Leap Day Event was a storming success - so we're doing it again ;D Our lovely hosts for basecamp are Morrisons, Cardiff Bay, so slightly less of a hike and a bit more of the huggin' - the dogs will have a little more time to meet their public We are being joined by a group from Barclays, who want to spend a volunteer day with us, but as usual, especially during the week when our doglets have fewer walking out opportunities, we'd love to have as many peeps as poss join us - the more pobls the more dobls Leisurely start to the day, we'll be meeting at CDH at 11 o'clock ;D (10.30 for anyone who wants to hear the 'pre-walk-talk' and a take look around the kennels) Morrisons Cafe really do do a nice cuppa coffee too Hope to see you there

Midweek is a bit of a pickle due to work.
But I could take a couple of hours flexi in the afternoon and get there with Lil' Miss Poundmagnet for about 3:30pm? ;D
She enjoys any excuse to wear her pink bandana! ;D

Brilliant ;D We have a team from Barclays coming - so we'll be covered during the day. ;D As Kara and Dasher know, in terms of 'pennies in the pots' our most profitable hours were from 5 until half past six, after the CDH dogs had done their bit. So if any Friends could bring their own doglets down for the late afternoon shift, this would be perfect

I'm on a bit of a Harvey mission along with a couple of other Harvey fans, having spent some more time with him today and speaking to the staff at the home. Are there any restrictions on which dogs we take down on the walkathon and how long they stay? I'm keen to raise Harvey's profile as much as possible! I'm wondering if the walkathon can become a Harvey-athon for us!

Aw bless, another smitten kitten ;D He does get under your skin doesn't he Jo The walkathon can be 'hard work' for some of our dogs ;D As it involves a 'meet n greet' session at 'Base Camp' (which next week is Morrisons), we need to be confident that the dogs will be comfortable for a spell in the company of other dogs, and with shoppers stopping to say hello, and to make a fuss of them. I think that given Harvey generally needs time to get know people, it might not be the ideal outing for him. But you're right Jo, Harvey is going to need help from us in finding him the perfect home. The Home have said that they are going to give us a profile update on Harvey. If someone was prepared to make this up into a folder with pics from his thread, he could have his own 'Special Dog for Rehoming' pamphlet/booklet, and this could be used to promote him at our events. Nick at the Home knows Harvey better than anyone and I know he is more than happy to speak with any potential rehomers. You coming on Wednesday then Jo? We're meeting at CDH at 10.30 - Team Barclays are all first-timers, so we'll be giving them a chat about CDH and a short tour around kennels before we set off. Everyone is welcome to join us, and we'll be especially glad for Friends and their own dogs to come along from 3 o'clock when the Home dogs will be making their way back to kennels.

Confirmed available for Base Camp duties.
Agreed Harvey is not suitable for M&G's. Caz and I noted when we took him on the SWALK he is very worried of people with walking sticks.

Yes you are probably right that it would be too stressful for Harvey although he is a different dog when in the company of someone who he trusts like Nick. I'd be happy to put a Harvey folder together - maybe I can print off some flyers too that can be handed to people showing some interest? I'm away this weekend but can get to it on Monday.
I intend to come to the walkathon although I have a meeting to go to at 10 so may have to join you later if I can't move it. I can certainly bring my dog, Patch, along to stand in for the resident dogs after 3pm. He'd love all the fussing!
