CDH is closing on Thursday morning to do a deep clean and will open to visitors from 2pm-6pm. The manager has asked if any Friends will be available to help clean the outside areas, and we can also walk some of the dogs, so if anyone can spare a few hours please let us know. As it's a group led walk, you don't have to be a registered walker, but we will need to know who's coming in advance On 1 August CDH will be closed all day for staff training.

Lynne (Gutsymum) and Katie might be able to help out - just depends on whether Holly is better and back in school.

11 o'clock start at CDH ;D
If peeps have slip leads, please bring them. Also a water bottle for the dogs to drink from. We'll most likely be doing lots of short walks rather than any major yomps as it's too warm to keep the dogs out for long periods during the day.

Can't help with the walking part but can help with some yard cleaning Thanks Bern - that'll be great! It should be a lot easier than last time, we had 10 mahoosive spray packs donated by the Anigene peeps, we donated a few to our neighbouring local authorities, but those big beasties will make such a difference when we're covering large areas ;D See you 11 ish?

Just want to say a huge thanks to everyone who came down today and helped out! Fran was out with the dogs taking them for short walks and then having a play in the garden, & to Geraint for walking a few doggies as well. The dogs that got taken out were; Klaus, Buster, Anders, Mischief, Spencer, Rango & Banjo. Again a massive thanks to everyone who helped out!

Thats great news, sorry I couldn't make it :-( i have Been looking online to replace the "damaged" padding pool for the garden, due to the current heat wave the hard pools are sold out! If anyone has one knocking around they don't want, the doggies would like it

I echo what Hannah says ;D Despite the heat, we got into the groove Many thanks to Hannah, today's 'keeper of the kong key', for getting the dogs in and out, and to Fran and Geraint for walking, and to Lynne, Holly & Katie for doing some backbreaking yard cleaning We were extremely careful not to allow any of the dogs to overheat. They had a gentle walk down the lane to the grassy area, where they enjoyed 20 mins sitting in the shade, sniffing and snuffling, then came back to CDH for a quiet spell in the shady side of the garden. We didn't do any toy throwing, chasing, or high energy games, and most of the dogs just enjoyed lolling around in the shade and lapping up the tummy rubs. It was far too hot to bring out the black & tans today, even a 10 minute walk on the asphalt down to the end of the lane would have been stressful for them. but Nick did bring Tyson out for a bit of a romp in the yard at 6 o'clock. Fran suggested to the manager that the dogs are given some protection from the sun during the hot weather. Factor 50 rubbed on their ears, noses and toeses will help protect their skin. So if anyone has any factor 50 sun screen the are willing to donate, the staff would be really grateful. Marks & Spencer own brand, Co-op own brand and Superdrug own brand have all been developed without testing on animals, and we feel our dogs would really appreciate this sentiment, so they would be the brands of choice
