Jake and I saw Trevor this evening at doggy school! He's such a cute boy (behaved a bit better than Jake!!) Was lovely to see him, he looks really well! He was being good as gold until he fell over, and then started barking REALLY loudly. He is a little weirdo!! Was lovely to see Jake too! I thought it was Kayno

Bless him, he was clearly embarrassed and wanted to save face. His little yelp/screech thing took us all by surprise I think, I didn't realise who it had come from at first!
Jake does look like a chunky version of Kayno, looks like his big brother. He wasn't happy not being able to say hello to everyone. Next week I shall take him out for a long run in the day, as well as his usual walks,to try and burn off a bit more energy in the hope that he'll settle a bit more quickly. Maybe if he's tired and a bit hungry I'll manage to find a treat that will distract him!

I was surprised too! I had been so smug about how well behaved he was then he made that enormous horrid noise! Daft little pooch! Did you see him when he fell off me as well? He landed on his side and made a massive thud noise and even the noisy Labrador looked shocked!
Jake is a BEAUTIFUL boy. How is he with other dogs? I am trying to get Trevor used to other dogs as he just rushes at them and puts his nose where he shouldn't. Some dogs can cope with his boisterousness but he needs to learn to be a bit more polite!

No, i didn't see that! Bless him, that can't have been very nice.
Jake is much the same, desperate to say hello but so bouncy that he often scares dogs before he reaches them. 25kg of dog flying at you probably is a little intimidating even if it is wagging its tail! He also heads nose first for places he shouldn't. He has make a couple of friends while we've been out walking though :-) and he & Trevor seemed ok, at a short distance, at the meet and greet the day you picked him up from CDH.
I was a gutted, but not surprised, that Jake was a bit of a stubborn boy. He is easily distracted by dogs and not very interested in treats if we're not at home so it was always going to be an uphill battle in a room with other dogs. He doesn't usuall bark like that though, Luna and the noisy lab barked at him as we came in though and that set him off. Hopefully it'll be a bit calmer next time :-) (and no falling off laps for Trevor!)

Would it be a good idea to let them play with each other? Maybe two bouncy dogs would even each other out? Or maybe we need to find a dog that will have a go at them when they are being a bit 'too much'. I would love to let Trev off the lead more often and let him play but I am so scared his boisterousness would end in a dog fight!

I am having a really similar problem with Caesar (now Ted). He thinks it's totally acceptable to run up to other dogs, and if they don't immediately respond with total delight and glee, he barks in their faces... We are off to puppy school tomorrow night to try and socialise him a bit, and I forsee alot of barking... It's almost like he's never really been around other dogs before. Is that something that you two get with Trevor and Jake?

I don't get barking but often Trev just wants to leap all over other dogs and play bite them on the ears. He leapt all over an enormous Doge De Bordeaux the other day and it was mortifying because the lady started screaming 'YOUR DOG IS BITING MY DOG' when he wasn't really, he was just being OTT.
I'd be happy to introduce Trev to any dog. He is friendly and just wants to play but he needs to calm down and learn that not all dogs are exciting and not all dogs want to play! I figure socialisation is the best way to do that? I don't 100% trust Trev off lead yet either, at least not with other dogs about! He has been let off three times now and I was terrified he would run off!!
