Meet Jay Jay is a lively three year old staffie lad. He was very excited to come out of his kennel today, but soon calmed down once we got outside and started walking. We took him for a stroll down the lane and he walked really nicely, we passed a few dogs and he showed a little interest and wagged his tail, but was quite happy to walk past without a fuss. After our stroll we went into the garden and Jay quickly got to work sniffing every inch. Once he was satisfied he had sniffed everything it was time for a play and some zoomies around the garden Even though we had no treats on offer Jay was happy to demonstrate a lovely sit for a fuss, good boy! Regular followers may recognise Jay as he was with us last year. At just 3 years old Jay has already had at least 2 previous owners, so he would really like to find his forever and ever home this time! If you think you could be Jays forever and ever family please come and meet him. Jay will be available for rehoming from 2nd March, but the staff at the home will take applications now. If you would like more information on her please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm For more information about the rehoming process at Cardiff Dogs Home, please click on the link below: Read more

Jay had a lovely walk on Sunday. He was a darling to walk. He loves human attention. It is so sad to see a dog back at the home through no fault of their own and their owner just gives up on them. Jay didn't ask to abandoned, but he would love a forever home this time I'm sure. .

Took the handsome Jay out this morning. He was a really good boy and enjoyed walking at quite a pace! He was absolutely fine passing other dogs but pulled a bit when he saw birds (the feathered variety!) He is very strong but generally well behaved on the lead. Hoping someone sees your potential soon Jay, you are a lovely boy! X

Lovely boy, I can't see how the last owners only had him for a year. He's faultless to walk, a real gem and he's such a beautiful boy. Hopefully this will be a short stay until his forever families sofa becomes available x

Love this boy, he is a pleasure to walk and he is so gentle and soft. He loves his walk, not one to keep stopping to sniff - he just loves being outside. Even jogged with him (very very small distance) and he just bounces along next to you. Give him a chance - he turns heads with how pretty he is.

Had the pleasure of walking the lovely Jay this afternoon and he was a real gem! Jay walks well on the lead and is happy to trot at a steady pace, enjoying the fresh air and time out of his kennel. Jay is a very handsome fella and he had many admiring glances on his walk! Jay is a lovely dog and I hope he finds his forever home soon

Had a lovely afternoon walk with Mr Jay First time walking this boy ( really don't know why! ) Jay was quite excited to get out for his walk, but 30 seconds in and he was walking with slack on the lead Hand over, grab lead, walk, no stoping is best policy for this guy at the start. Jay is though, all about the walk, he strides along next to you with a purpose, now and again stopping to have a sniff or to look back with a lovely Staffie smile We did have a little stop on the way back and Jay had a little lay down, doing his best froggie Staffie pose! We also had a very close encounter with a Rabbit, who very quickly ran into a bush, and Jay decided he really must investigate! ' Shhhhhh! I'm hunting wabbits ' ( No rabbits were harmed during our walk ) xx

Bumped into Jay yesterday while out with Casper. Mum had Casper so I was lucky enough to be able to give Jay a proper fuss and a scratch behind the ears. He really is a beautiful boy, with such an expressive little face. So hope this sweet guy finds his own sofa soon xx

We took the gorgeous Mr Jay out on Sunday for the first time and he is an absolute treasure! My sister was visiting from London so she joined us on our morning (well, late morning) walkies and she adored him. He pulled initially out of the Home but settled down nicely after a few minutes. The member of staff who brought him out to us warned that he might jump up and try to bite his lead but he was just a determined walker and didn't jump up once. We encountered a dog off leash on the estate who bounded over to us, but Jay greeted him very politely with a sniff and waggy tail and happily walked on as we moved away, despite the other dog wanting to play. All other dogs we passed got a look of interest and some tugging to go say hello, but Jay is very easy to direct and distract. We passed quite a few walkers and all of them cooed over Jay!
He was a little unsure of us at first, understandably so, but after 20 minutes of walking and a treat (that helped a lot!), he was only too happy to show us some lovely staffy smiles and have some quick cuddles. We also managed to get a sit and paw with relative ease (and a treat to hand).
Unfortunately I forgot my camera for this day of walkies and our phone photos didn't come out very well, but you can see from all the pictures above how handsome and sweet this darling boy is. One of the staff mentioned that someone was coming down to see him later in the day, so hopefully he won't be at the Home for too much longer!

This morning Jay gave us a lesson on the 'perfect walk'.... no pulling - check, no jumping - check, tail wagging - check, no aggro with passing dogs/ people / cars - check check check!! Jay was such a gentleman today - we took him out with the kids, and he was good as gold. We walked along the river and had an absolutely lovely time. He is such a chilled out boy, happily tanking along next to us (he is so chunky and handsome!). We stopped for a cuddle and a drink at the bench - Jay was happy to spend a little while under the table out of the sun. He wasn't fussed on treats (we tried a couple of times but our choice of biscuit was clearly lacking!), but he did really enjoy having a fuss. He is such a gentle guy and would make someone a wonderful companion. Jay you are fabulous xx
