just scrolled down to the bottom of the page and found a gumtree advert showing assorted dogs for sale from £1. i know there is a campaign to get gumtree animal free and feel a little bit worried by the fact that this forum has this advert on it. can we make it go away?

just scrolled down to the bottom of the page and found a gumtree advert showing assorted dogs for sale from £1. i know there is a campaign to get gumtree animal free and feel a little bit worried by the fact that this forum has this advert on it. can we make it go away? Well, it's complicated This forum is free hosted - and that means that Friends don't have to pay to set it up or use it. We could pay to have it 'ad free' but that would put pressure on the fundraising team to meet these costs every month before any money goes into the kennel fund. The ads (as I understand it) display to each user according to cookies on your pc (which get downloaded according to your search engine results) - so I get a lot of 'lose weight' and 'bingo' ads (how very dare they)! I would recommend..... Clearing your cookies regularly Ignore all ads that pop up on here (or on FB, and any other sites you use) Support campaign groups such as CARIAD, to help them force legislative changes that will outlaw such ads Veto sites (such as gumtree) that allow such ads Help Friends promote their Responsible Pet Ownership ideals Carol, I know how distressing it is to see such awful ads. Friends and the Home are daily sweeping up the debris that is the result of such ads. All we can realistically do is counter the ads with information dissemination, supporting good legislation, and 'telling your friends'. Everyone who sells or buys a puppy for £1 probably has friends who know better. So put it on your facebook, tweet it, share it with everyone you know. Keep the faith Missus, we will get our message out there, eventually. S

This gets rid of all the sneaky little files (cookies) websites put on your pc. Once this is done the ads should stop but its a good idea to do it once in a while. The kids should know how to do it! its in options when you open your web browser or in disk cleanup when you are on the desktop. Clear as mud eh!? If its a laptop bring it to the pub on sunday and I'll do it for you Shell X
