We adopted Hunter yesterday. He gets along fine with Lucy and we were told that he is a very dog friendly dog. We were out with him today and he barked at literally everything that moves (we knew he was a barker), but then more worryingly was quite aggressive with one dog and then tried to bite a 7 month old pup. Thankfully, no damage was done and I know the owner so all is ok, but don't want to risk a repeat. He's an absolute angel with people and hasn't so much as barked at our dog Lucy so just wondered how you guys found him with other dogs, did you ever have any issues with him? I've bought him a muzzle for the time being while we try to get this under control as obviously I can't risk him biting another dog. He's a lovely dog and want to give him the best chance.

Hiya
As far as I know he was ok with other dogs but others will know better than me. It could be that he's still finding his feet as everything is new to him now and he's not used to the area, to you, other dogs in the area etc so he will bark at everything he sees. I'm sure that will settle. I would advise if you felt that it would help you to speak to a behaviourist to nip whatever the issue is with other dogs in the bud you wouldn't do better than speaking to Caroline Cowan from Cardiff canine citizens. She has helped many owners who have adopted from cdh and she's fab!

I can't help but feel that the aggression is more deep rooted and we will need to contact a behaviourist. It just seems so out of character with the lovely dog he is at home.

See my reply to your post on the forum where the rehomed dogs are listed. Thank you. Saw it a little while ago. For some reason my phone has stopped giving me notifications when someone replies.
