Please welcome father and son Jackhuahuas, Jack and Rex
Jack, the daddy of the two, is about 7 years old.
And Rex, his son, is about 18 months old.
Jack and Rex were signed over to Newport City Dogs Home along with Lassie Labrador, as their owner had to downsize his pack due to housing restrictions. The have both lived happily with 3 other dogs and some kitties, and are really well socialised little chaps.
Jack is definitely the daddy of the pair. He is confident and lively, and much more outgoing than his son, Rex.
He does have an old injury to his ear. Apparently at some point Jack got into a spot of bother with another dog, and came of worst.....
...but he obviously doesn't bear any grudges, and is super-friendly around other dogs.
Jack does a cute beg for sausages, well, for anything really! Just because he can!
Rex, Jack's son, has been overshadowed a little by Jack. He is extremely affectionate towards people, but a little less confident when he's four-paws-on-the-floor'.
Rex sometimes gets a little worried when he's walked on lead, and sometimes will simply stop and ask to be carried
But in the few days he has been in the care of the staff, he seems to be growing in confidence.
Rex's daddy still keeps in him check if he thinks Rex is getting too big for his boots. The staff may consider rehoming both dogs together or separately. We're pretty sure Jack will fit in anywhere, and Rex might benefit from living with a gentle, confident, older dog who can continue to help him grow in confidence.
If you want more information about Jack & Rex, or any of the dogs for rehoming in Newport, please contact the staff at Newport City Dogs' Home on 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 4pm, Monday to Saturday or pop in for a visit!
As they have been signed over, Rex and Jack are available for rehoming now, but Newport City Dogs Home does not rehome dogs immediately before Christmas, so applicants would need to discuss timings with the staff.
Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, and microchip. It is a condition of the rehoming contract that all dogs are neutered/spayed.
All applicants will be homechecked prior to approval.
