Dear little Jamie, with the sad eyes. What a story this lad has to tell. He lived, very happily, with his elderly Mum, but, after a spell of illness, she died, leaving nobody, within the family, willing to take him on. Jamie was surrendered to the dogs’ home and must have wondered what on earth had happened to his world. He is a very quiet and well-behaved little lad. Although only five years and nine months old, he behaves like a much older dog. c I took Jamie for a long walk today and, though, initially, he only wanted to potter and sniff, he soon began to want to trot along and have a good roll in the freshly-cut grass. He is an absolute gentleman on the lead. Jamie seemed very well-mannered with other dogs. Interested but happy to keep his distance. We introduced him to Jack, but Jamie just wanted to mind his own business. This boy needs a quiet home, where he will be a treasured companion. He is a very undemanding boy, who would probably prefer a quiet home, where he is the only dog, and will just be your best friend. If you are interested in finding out more about Jamie, please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME for more information. TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays. 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 3.30pm Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, and microchip. It is a condition of the rehoming contract that all dogs are neutered/spayed aged six months. Subsidised vouchers are available at £35, this is in addition to the rehoming fee.

Jamie really is a sweet little chap. Nothing more I can add to the thread other than he really does love a good cuddle on the sofa - and we think he's rather partial to the odd digestive biscuit!
Really hope Jamie finds his new home soon!

It's such a relief that Jaime has settled into Home life, especially considering how traumatic it must have been for him to lose his beloved mum. It was wonderful to see him soooo relaxed and poised on his auntie Jenn's lap the other day. If you have room in your heart and your home for a calm and respectful pooch who'll absolutely love a good old cosy up on the sofa, then this adorable little fella could be the perfect pooch for you! I really hope that Jamie's time at the Home is a fleeting one, so that he can enjoy the life of a dearly loved furry friend with his someone special as soon as possible!

Had the absolute pleasure of walking Jamie on Saturday. He was very quiet and a bit unsure when we first started out but soon came into his own and was trotting along happily. He's a real gentleman and I hope he finds his forever family soon.

My husband and I are very interested in rehoming Jamie - do we phone first to introduce ourselves and to arrange to visit and apply?

Hi Arwen, I'd give the home a quick call to check if they're still taking applications for Jamie. Or feel free to pop down tomorrow morning and meet some of the residents! You can call them on 01633 290920 or pop down between 11am-1pm or 2pm-4pm Monday to Saturday. Hi Jen, thanks very much for your response! We're away this weekend but I'll definitely phone tomorrow to see if we can apply - many thanks! Jamie looks ideal for us but if someone else has beaten us to it I'm sure there sill be another friend staying with you who we can adopt soon! 😊

Very happy to report that Jamie is settling in very well with us. We've had a few toileting issues and night time barking but he's getting to grips with using the great outdoors and not the kitchen floor. He's enjoying lots of walks, cuddles and getting to know the local population of doggie friends. A lovely natured boy and don't let the sad eyes fool you! He's a very happy boy!
