Please welcome the very beautiful Sadie This darling young GSD was found straying, and although her owner is aware she is at the Home, he doesn't intend coming to collect her. Sadie clearly has no idea why she has changed hands so many times in her young life. The vets have aged her at about a year old. German Shepherds are known for their loyalty and she must be very bewildered at not being by her master's side. Sadie hasn't been up close and personal with any of her fellow kennel residents yet, but she didn't seem unduly bothered by the dogs coming back from their walks. She is taking a little while to settle into her new routine, and is shy of strangers when she first meets them. So we have been very careful not to startle her.... and not invade her personal space... And once she knows she is in the company of friends, she relaxes And if you have sausages, you'll definitely win her over! Whatcha got in your pocket Miss Chris? And out come the sausages! That's the way to earn Sadie's trust! Soft voices, gentle hands, and sausages! We are still getting to know Sadie a little better, and the staff feel she would benefit from living with someone who has experience of her breed. If you'd like more information about Sadie or would like to meet her please contact the staff at Newport City Dog's Home on TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, and microchip. It is a condition of the rehoming contract that all dogs are neutered and Sadie will be speyed before she is rehomed.

Took the beautiful Sadie out this morning & it's sad to see how nervous she is. Ever so timid coming out from the kennels so we knew we had to be calm & patient with her. Once we managed to gain her trust to leave, we took her along the river path. She seemed to be bowled over by all the smells along the route and was sniffing the foliage the whole way along. We passed a few other dogs from the home on our walk & she behaved wonderfully, no attempt to pull to say hello & was happy to just let them pass. Towards the end she really perked up, her tail started to come up & was even happy to have a little trot with me. This girl desperately needs her furever home & you can be sure she'll be the most loyal companion around. She's also perfectly fine around children. Fingers crossed it won't be too long Sadie.

Sadie is really starting to relax and get into the swing of things in Newport Dogs Home. Her best friend in the whole world is staff member Carole, and Sadie is showing us all the very best GSD breed traits, she is loyal, loving, sensitive, and without a doubt she would lay down her life for someone she knows and trusts. Although Sadie is much more relaxed and settled, she still gets a little anxious if she is overcrowded or overwhelmed, and by sudden noises and movements. The staff will be looking for a breed experienced home for Sadie, and they feel she will be more comfortable around older children only. Sadie hasn't put a paw wrong since she arrived, but it has taken the staff and volunteers a little while to earn her trust. If you are looking for a dog who will love you unconditionally from the moment you meet - get a staffie If you are kind, gentle and patient, and are prepared to take the time to earn a dog's trust, come and meet Sadie Sadie is proving to be a very special girl, whoever takes her into their hearts and their home is going to be blessed with the most loving, loyal and devoted girl you could wish to meet.

Hi, is Sadie still available? I've tried to send a msg via the forum but still says 'pending'. We're looking for a friend for our 2 year old GSD. He's well mannered and neutered. We're experienced GS owners and live in a rural location. We live in Bridgend, so didn't want to arrange to come if she's gone. She sounds as though she would benefit from a home with a resident dog- and would perhaps grow in confidence as a result. We do have three children, and have noticed a post on here RE a two year old, (our youngest is two) so not sure how that would stand? Thanks

Hi Rachel, I believe that they are looking to home Sadie with older children as she is nervous. She did also have someone put in an app yesterday I believe so probably best to give them a quick call tomorrow and see how the land lies. The number is in her original post. Although Sadie has been calm around other dogs, she is very easily spooked by sudden movements, and she isn't entirely comfortable with people and dogs milling around her. The staff would prefer Sadie was an 'only child' in a home. Do keep looking though Rachel, lots of our dogs would love to have a big brother
