How cute is this girl? Jessie is only 13 months old. Picked up, whilst straying, by local children, her owners didn't want to pay the release fee for her, so she has been surrendered to the pound. Jessie is said to be good with everything. Unfortunately, she kept escaping from her owners home, so was no longer wanted. Jessie is a real live-wire. She needs a home that is securely fenced and owners who will appreciate her fun-loving character. We gave her the opportunity to run free with Bas, and what fun they had ! Remember "Friends" only promote these dogs and any enquiries need to be made directly to Newport Dogs' Home, where staff can give you more detailed information. Please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME. TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 4pm (Monday - Saturday) or pop in for a visit! No appointment needed. Please note: The home is closed on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, and microchip. It is a condition of the rehoming contract that all dogs are neutered/spayed aged six months. Subsidised vouchers are available at £35, this is in addition to the rehoming fee. All applicants will be home-checked prior to approval.

Yes, Jessie is still at the Home. The staff will take up to three applications for her and select the most suitable subject to homechecks and vet references. Give the staff a call on 01633 290902 for a chat, but please note all applications need to be made in person, there is no facility to email an application form.

Christine - why not pop down to the Home tomorrow. The volunteers will be there walking the dogs, and you will be able to meet the dogs and chat to the staff about which dog(s) may be suitable for you. You won't be taking a dog home on the same day, but there are things you could do to help speed up the rehoming process. If you can bring a vet reference with you that will help (as it is part of the rehoming process). You should be able to ask your vet for a print out of your visits with your previous pet, or alternatively ask them to confirm that any pets you have had previously... Have been regularly vaccinated, or if not vaccinated, have been titre tested or some other method of protection has been used, eg nosodes. Were neutered If the pet is no longer living, that it died of old age or disease (ie it didn't simply disappear off their records) That as far as the vets are aware the pet received timely and appropriate vet care. Also, if you can bring pictures of all your garden boundaries that would also help. Best wishes! xx

Hi baglady.
We've spoken to my mum's vets that she has used for the last 20 years and They are preparing the letter you suggested for us by thursday morning.
I think you'll be happy she is an ideal owner and the environment is very suitable.
We cannot get to you until Thursday but will be over then as I think Jessie is going to an ideal pet for a loving owner.
Regards.
Matt

Had the delight of walking this little sweetie this morning. She is a lovely little dog, loves having fusses and was an absolute dream to walk.

We had a lovely walk with Jessie on the weekend and she was so calm, curious and loved her tummy rubs in the sunshine! She is a great little girl who'd make an affectionate companion for the lucky person/family!

Hi Tracy, Jessie was a lucky girl and had a number of lovely applications put in over the weekend for her. She has gone to her new forever home today 🙂 Please do pop down to meet some of the residents and talk to the staff/volunteers about what kind of dog you think you'd like. Or keep checking back here on the forum. We try to keep it updated on a weekly basis. We rang about Jessie on Monday but we're told she had already been reserved 😔
