Whisper hello to Chip Chip is a three year old Jack Russell X boy. Although Chip has been at the home for a few days he is struggling to cope in his new surrounding and is still quite nervous. He is happiest when out of his kennel, so has been spending a lot of time in the office making friends with the staff and volunteers. We are not 100% sure of his parentage, but were wowed by his cracking set of ears. After a sniff around the vet room it was clear that Chip was much happier to be up in someone arms and soon asked aunty Becky for a cwtch and some reassurance. Chip will be available for rehoming from 25th September. If you'd like to meet him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. We took little Chip out for a short walk this morning. The staff explained that he was very nervous so we started off by taking him down to the river where it was nice and peaceful. We were told not to try and stroke him or make a fuss of him because he was anxious so we just talked to him constantly to try and gain his trust. He enjoyed some sausage off one of the staff members and then we set off on our walk down the lane. We didn't take him as far as Penarth Road as we thought the traffic may scare him so we walked to the grassy patch on the trading estate and let him have a good sniff around. After a little while he seemed to perk up so we began our walk back to CDH. On the way back he walked great on the lead and his tail was up and wagging and he seemed to be gaining confidence. He is a lovely little dog and it must be so strange for him to be in new surroundings. There was also a lot of noise at CDH today as the workmen are making alterations to the reception area and poor little Chip nearly jumped out of his skin when one of them started drilling! I am sure he won't be in kennels for long - someone will snap him up in no time!
