Oooooh Chase! You're a handsome dude!
This lovely boy was left at Cardiff Dogs Home by his owners, who said they didn't want him anymore. Fair to say we don't think he really wanted them any more either. Chase was very agitated and upset when he was brought to the Home but don't worry boyo - your new life starts here!
We don't have any information about Chase, we were left holding his lead as his family departed with not so much as a backward glance, but we spent some time getting to know him today, and we LIKE him!
Chase was assessed when he first arrived to see if he would be suitable as a trained sniffer dog. Chase hadn't really had time to settle, he didn't know any of his handlers, and it seemed pretty obvious no-one had ever spent time playing with him, or being kind to him, so we have given him a few days to settle. Our mission today - they asked us to see if we could get Chase to retrieve a ball, and to play tuggy.
We like a challenge!
OK Chase - go get it!!!!
Now - bring it back!!!!
Atta boy!!!!
And Chase LOVED playing tuggy! None of your itsy bitsy tug toys - Chase went large!!!!
We're hoping that Chase will get another chance to try out with the professional sniffer dogs, and if Chase was born to work rather than be a family pet we've got our paws crossed he will make the grade!
But if Chase decides that all he needs is a loving home with an outdoorsy life and plenty of exercise, he will be looking for an active and loving home that will help him channel his energy and become the fabulous dog he is destined to be.
Either way, Chase is no couch potato! Collies are bred to go from dawn till dusk, so he wouldn't appreciate being left alone to his own devices all day long.
If you would like to meet Chase please contact the staff at the Home on 029 2071 1243 in the first instance.
