Oh wowsers - meet our resident staffie stunners, Roxy
and her best friend in the whole world, Rogue
This beautiful pair were signed over by their owners due to a change of circumstances. They are just under three years old and have lived together all their lives.
Roxy is a mirror image of her bestie!
We gave her the pick of the toy box, and she loved the spikey ball!
Belated Christmas present - sorted!
Rogue was more interested in the cuddles on offer when we brought him out for his pics....
He's a proper flirt! Any lap will do!
As long as there's a scritch and a kiss!
The staff are having a bit of a dilemma regarding whether to rehome Roxy and Rogue separately or as a pair. There's not a bad bone in either of them, but having had each other for company all their lives they have missed out a bit on their basic training as they 'listen' to each other rather than to humans.
They both need help learning to walk nicely on-lead, and didn't show us any indication that they have paid any attention to their teacher in puppy school.
If they are adopted as a pair their new peeps should be prepared to spend a lot of time with each dog individually to help them become model doggy citizens. Separate walks, separate training sessions, recall sessions, separate one-to-one time....
There are a zillion reasons why the best dog trainers and behaviourists don't recommend taking on littermate puppies, and Roxy and Rogue are, to an extent, living proof that having sibling littermates is hard work. But, as they have lived together all their lives they are pretty bonded. Rogue in particular pines a little when they are separated.
So whether they are rehomed together or separately will really depend on the expectations of their potential rehomers. Either way, they are truly fabulous youngsters and without a doubt they will make fabulous family pets with a little training.
if you'd like to meet Roxy and/or Rogue, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm.
