Just wanted to share my gorgeous boys and girls with you all
My Angel Tara - we adopted her from Cardiff Dogs Home in Dec 1998, she was 8 weeks old, she was ill early on but with our vet and the little fighter she was she survived, then at age 9 she developed diabetes but with her twice daily insulin and carrot treats she coped really well, then two days before Easter 2010 she had a large swelling come up on her neck and throat, tokk her to the vets, she bounded in wagging her tail as normal, our lovely vet took one look at her and gave us the dreadful news that it was cancer and they couldnt do anything, she was okay for now but in a day or so she would not be able to eat or drink, we couldnt take her home knowing we would have to take her back so we made the heartbreaking decision that every dog lover dreads. I didnt think for one moment that day we would not be taking her home, she was one in a million, loved everybody and everything we miss her so, so much and will never stop loving her, our gorgeous smiling girl
Molly is our beautiful sheltie cross, we have had her since she was 8 weeks old and she will be 13 on 26th of this month. She too had cancer and then later pyometra but thankfully she recovered fully, she has taken over from Tara as being the boss... one woof from her and the others scatter ;D she is a real mummy's girl, wherever I am she is right behind me, we love her to bits too
Ben, our westie also came from Cardiff Dogs Home in March 2004, he had been found wandering and even though his owners were eventually traced they didnt want him back, they must have been mad as he is the most cheeky ;D although loving little boy, our vet aged him at about 12 months when we had him so we have given him 14th Feb as his birthday, cos he is my little Valentine
Rosie, is our elderly lady, she came from Newport Dogs Home in May 1998 aged approx 8 months old, she had been taken in by people who said they had just found her, but the staff there said she was too attached to them to just have been found.... she will be 15 in August but still runs round like a youngster and is into everything, tail always wagging, always ready for a kiss and a cuddle, surely she should be slowing up, but noone has told her ;D
Tigs, is our 10 year old little girl, we adopted her from All Creatures Great and Small, she was approx 10-12 weeks old, she was found running around the streets in the Blackwood area and a lovely man took her in, kept her for a week whist asking around if anyone had lost a puppy, as he lived alone and worked he didnt think it was fair to her to keep her so he took her to the sanctuary where we found her and brought her home, she is another little sweetheart, into everything but always ready to have a cuddle, We called her Tigs after Winnie the Pooh's Tigger, because when we had her first all she did was bounce!!
last but by no means least is our handsome Angel Merlin, we adopted him in 2001, aged around 3, he again came from All Creatures and he had such a sad story, he was blind and was dumped on Caerphilly mountain to fend for himself, when he came into the sanctuary his chest and tummy were red raw where he had been crawling around too scared to stand, we eventually brought him home and my husband carried him in from the car as if you put him on the ground to walk he would just lay down, the other dogs looked after him, especially little Tigs, she became his bodyguard, she stood by his food dish when he ate and growled at the others if they had the audacity to get too near whilst he was eating. Over time he gained confidence and would run around the garden with the others, he picked up a virus in 2007 which resulted in the vet saying that he didnt think he would last the night, but he fought and he did, then in Jan 2008 he had a canine vestibular syndrome attack, similar to a stroke in humans, but again he battled and fought that, which although slowed him down a little he still enjoyed his life, in Sept 2011 he began wetting himself and then the next morning he couldnt stand properly as his back legs were crossing and he couldnt balance, took him straight to the vet, who said that by the way he was and his actions in the surgery he had a brain tumour and would not recover, so we made yet another hearbreaking decision, he was 14 maybe even 15 ,we love him to bits and miss him everyday
sorry this post is so long but hope you like seeing our babies.
Thanks, Sue xx
