Please give a very warm welcome to Rolo
This little fella is no stranger to our social media followers. He was found in very distressing circumstances on the hottest May Day Bank holiday in 20 years, shut in a crate, with no water, and abandoned on a nearby, deserted industrial estate. It was pure chance that he was spotted and two of our volunteers rushed him to the vets. Rolo was so distressed he couldn't be handled, but we are eternally grateful to the sharp eyed walkers who spotted him, because if he hadn't been found when he was it's a certainty that he would not have survived the searing afternoon heat. Rolo would, without a doubt, have died the most distressing death.
But let's put all that behind us eh Rolo! You're safe now!
Rolo looks to all intents and purposes like a happy little fella, but although he's just a youngster he's not exactly the carefree happy-go-lucky little dog he looks in his pictures, and the staff will be looking for a quiet, experienced home for Rolo.
He can be a little vocal, and he would probably be better suited to an adult only home, or one with older children who are dog savvy and respectful.
Rolo may be able to live with an older, confident dog, but he can be a little too big for his tiny boots and although he had a friendly playdate with some of our volunteers' dogs, he has been caught being a bit of a bossy boots with some younger, more submissive dogs
Rolo will be booked in for neutering this week, and it's likely that next time you see pics of this little fella on his rehoming thread he's going to look like a completely different dog! Rolo has very deep knots and mats in his coat. He is still getting used to his new environment, and we're pretty sure he would find it difficult to cope with a bath and groom, so the vets will be shaving his coat whilst he is in his big boys op sleepyland
If you'd like to meet Rolo pop up to Newport City Dogs Home! TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays.
Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment and neutering.
