Floss came out on Friends inaugural S'WALK today with her lovely Auntie Caz (deputy dawg), and isn't she looking fabulous? Floss was an earth-shattering 60kg when she came into the Home but under a carefully managed diet has shed nearly 10 kgs, and, as you can see, she is looking much better ;D Sophie and I bumped into Floss on the walk, and she (Floss) was very excited to see yet another dog, but she is not blessed with the best doggy manners in the world She is totally without any hint of agression, but doesn't have a well developed grasp of 'personal space' I *think* she was really happy to be out though... Hopefully Caz (DD) will be able to tell you more...

What else can I tell you about Floss? She's a sweet natured dog who gets very excitable when first on the lead, but soon calms down and walks along nicely. She also sits on command. She's very friendly to dogs and humans alike so a home with another dog would be no problem. In fact it would help her to learn some boundaries as she loves other dogs so much, like Susie said she likes to get up very close on first meeting which some dogs don't appreciate. She's very strong (surely there's some Rottie in there?) so would need an owner physically strong enough to control her when she wants to meet and greet her fellow dogs. She's not nervous, she doesn't seem to get phased by anything (e.g. cars and bikes) and she is fine with being handled all over. Due to her weight problem she can only walk so far before she gets a bit puffed out, but hopefully she will lose some more weight and will be able to enjoy longer walks.

How is Floss doing? We have a sparring partner for her. A very overweight Collie called Mabel who was abandoned tied to a lamppost She needs to shed 10kg which I think is what Susie said that Floss was trying to loose as well.

Floss is doing brilliantly ;D Floss came in at 60 kg, and has shed 10 kg already, but she's still got a long way to go! She had a really good walk with Caz (DD) on the weekend, and is looking altogether more like a dog and less like a hairy mammoth (soz Floss, hope you don't see this) She looks much younger than when she came in - she was just a big, lumpy, could-hardly-support-her-own-weight 'flobble' (is that a word? it should be) G'luck Mabel - no gain without pain, but if Floss is anything to go by, you'll feel like a different dawg in no time!
