I joined ACT an Academy that teaches new skills to various people. Mine was Animal Care.....my first day was dog walking I was amongst a lot of youngsters who wanted the typical Mastiff or Staffie. The first dog to plod out was this tiny, very grey and old Jack Russell (K1 now called Sasha)....everyone turned their noses up....this tiny gorgeous little lady looked at me and I instantly feel in love. I took her on our walk where every few minutes she turned to see if I was there. She would stop here and there and turn and kiss me. Half way though our walk.....drinkie times.....she jumped on my lap and stunggled under my neck and cwtched. I knew she was mine then. On the way back she was limping so I carried her...and boy shes a hefty one. I immediately put my name down as a SECOND reserve....3 days of revisiting and nail bitting moments I had a phone call to ask if I wanted her still....Ummmm Yes. Within half an hour me and my boyfriend came and she become part of our family. Since October our life has somewhat changed....we've had wee problems, (as we believe she was abused...as if we joke and play fight she wees on the spot). We're working through it and sometimes its not always nice, but she has issues just like me. Over time she has become the most amazing companion to both me and my boyfriend. She's such a wonderful, playful, loving little soul. I can't believe that she became a resident of the pounds. I suggest that if you want a dog....go dog walking. It's such a huge reward. xxx Attachments:

Hi Gemma, What a lovely story! you do know when a dog is for you don't you, or should I say they know when you are for them ;D I certainly felt that with my Megs, she came up and kissed me on the nose the very first time I met her, and I now know, she NEVER does that to people she doesn't know, she's a shy thing really

Oh Gemma, how lovely, I'm sat here with tears reading your story. I so agree with you, sometimes you get a tug at your heartstrings and that's it!
What is lovely to hear is that you understand that Sasha has issues and you are working with them and helping her along ;D

What a lovely story.... Occupational hazard then Gemma - the same thing just happened to Joe (from Pencoed College) with Titch... Isn't it beautiful how, when you least expect it, when you weren't even aware, a doglet sneaks up and steals your heart Really hope you're doing well in your chosen career, (or should I say, the career that chose you) Susie x
