Aunties Susie and Rachel called for a visit, yesterday, with a car full of supplies and toys for Ffion and the pups. These were all made possible by the efforts of the "Friends" and their friends, so a huge thank you to all of you, in whatever capacity you help. These lucky dogs want for nothing, now.

Just a little update on Ffion. She is being a fantastic Mum and her pups are growing and thriving. Soon I will start weaning them and, hopefully things will then become easier for her. At the moment, all of her food is being used to produce milk and she is very thin, even though she is eating a huge amount. She loves the comforts of living in a home and is a really gentle and affectionate girl. Although she is excellent with my dogs, she is not really bothered about them and just loves her people. In a few weeks she will be looking for a permanent home of her own and I would hate to think of her lingering in kennels, where she was so sad.

Hi, just wondering what the adoption process will be for Fion- will she return to kennels when she is ready for adoption or be adopted from the home where she currently is? She looks like a really lovely dog, anyone know how she is with young children?

Hi, Daisy. I haven't had any young children to visit, so far, so can't give you a definite answer, I'm afraid. I would suspect that she would be fine, as long as the children are gentle and considerate. It is doubtful that she is the sort of dog that would enjoy rough and tumble games. As for the rehoming, Ffion remains the property of CDH, so you would have to contact them, to find out.

Any news on Fion? Has she got a forever home lined up for her?

Ffion does have a very suitable home offer and her prospective new Mum has, actually, just left after her second visit. She has another two and a half weeks of maternity leave left, though her pups are getting very big and naughty, and I don't think she will be sad to see them go! All is subject to official approval, at this stage.

I saw the pups on Facebook. How amazing, poor thing though. Do we know the daddy? Babies look a bit staffy like? I love flash btw... What a handsome little thing.

We have absolutely no idea who the daddy is - Ffion isn't a 'kiss and tell' kinda gal Their coat colours and those blue eyes might make you think 'collie'! But who knows? If breed/type is really important to you, then maybe Ffion's pups are not the ones for you, as we really, honestly, truly don't know! Ffion and two of her pups already have amazing forever homes lined up, and we will be taking applications on the three remaining pups from 17th March (evening). We will post up details on here of how to apply. We will be asking for veterinary references and we will be arranging homechecks. The pups have had the best possible start to life with their amazing foster mum, and we want to be as sure as sure can be that whoever adopts these beauts knows and understands that these dogs are for life. For ever and ever amen. Cardiff Dogs Home takes in approximately 80 dogs a month, they were all cute puppies once. They all lived with someone, who for whatever reason gave up on them. Taking on a puppy is a massive commitment. Rory, Flash and Storm will have their own rehoming thread from the evening of 17th March, brace yourselves, their pics are going to melt hearts!

Ok thank you, I have been followed no you and know how busy you get. I've joined numerous rescue groups waiting for the perfect dog match. I know what ever dog I have will be happy forever with us And be part of our wonderful family. I've researched and baby sat various of my friends dogs to get an idea on breed and size suitable. Like you say these pups will not be suitable then as I have an allergy to long fur dogs ( along with cats and rabbits). That's the reason I like to know the parents. Because I don't fancy being on allergy pills for the rest of my life ^_^ because I'm not the type to rehome or give up on any creature.

Sounds like you are approaching this very thoughtfully and sensibly Bakewell We see sooooo many dogs abandoned as young adults because 's/he has grown too big', or my boyfriend is allergic (puppy coats are very different to adult coats), we've even had 'she doesn't fit in the boot of my car anymore'.... Sometimes size matters, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes coat type matters, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes breed/type matters, sometimes it doesn't. Because the puppies are of unknown paternal parentage, it is so important that potential rehomers consider whether the 'unknowns' are likely to be deal breakers, and if they are then as Bakewell is doing, make sure your head rules your heart!
