So, being me - shoot me if you wish - I've decided that this thread needs the proverbial kick up the backside, in no small way because of this week's sad events. Sooo...this is Kevin. In a home for 2 years before being returned to Rescue because he, ermm, didn't quite meet his adopter's needs. He came here on foster, he's still here. When he came here he had to ask for water, didn't think he was allowed to play and had no clue how to be polite around other dogs. This is Kev a few days ago: The point? We can only do so much and, as much as we's love to help them all, it isn't always that easy. Grin at the memories of those you've helped, and sleep easy knowing you've done all you can, for them all. My Diva Dog says "Hi," and please keep loving those who don't have anyone x

Hi everybody. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm sure someone will have an answer. -Will I need to bring my own short lead for walking dogs? Or Are leads provided? Also -What is CDH consensus on extendable leads? Are they prohibited? Or optional?

Hiya CDH use slip leads to walk the dogs and these are available to buy at the induction for a fiver (at least, I think its a fiver, Michele or Susie will correct me here if I'm wrong!) The staff do have a small supply but can't guarantee there will always be one free so I would suggest buying your own. And label it up somehow in case you accidentally leave it hanging around at CDH, you will know its yours then! A keyring or a fob of some sort does the job well We only use slip leads, definitely not extending leads. The slip leads just ensure you have full control over the dog at all times and means they cant wander off too far. Some dogs will go out on a harness or need a specialist lead, but the staff will sort this side of things for you! Hopefully see you on the 23rd x

Hey guy's! Just giving a heads up ( Without sounding toooo pretentious! ) I have walked almost every dog on the walkers list, a fair few esp in last 2 weeks, and I have a load of probably not very good pic's on my phone from the walks and stories, but my phone is having major mid-life crisis issues and is refusing to let me access or even transfer pics If I get to set them free expect pics and walkers stories galore I feel very strange taking a dog out and not sharing our time.....right going on a bit now! Moral of the story is, don't take pics with a *dying*, caveman era phone Right bore fest over ( hack's at phone with a chisel, then might use it to make fire) Happy walking people, some lovely dogs in at the moment, make their time in kennels as fun and happy as it could be xxx

Hi! Just a thought, don't know if it's a good thought or if it could even be done with available resources etc, but I was thinking for future inductions having route maps done that show them possible walking routes ie Ely trail, grangemoor, Llandough hill. When I went out with Tai and a new walker, we got to the estate and a large group of walkers were just stopped, looking lost! Most of them ended up following us down the Ely trail, but I think a few didn't and just walked up and down the main road. I know they can ask during the induction, but many do not Just a thought xx
