I would love to meat Lucy. I had two golden lads mother and son. I had the mother first and after suffering from a stroke. Of which I am fully recovered. After the stroke I lost all interest in life and needed something to get up for every day so after a long time of thinking of what I needed to give me an interest in life again I decided to bread Georgia who was just wonderful she was th most caring mum you would want to meet. When the pups were Borne she was incredible and I spent all my time looking after her and her pups which were 11 but two died. One of the pups fell from the welding box and was frozen frends said that we should let him go but he was so tiny and we took him in the house an places him infrount of the arga Fed him warm milk and spent time making him well. After a few days. He was having fits so we took him to the vets where he gave us medication and lucky soon got well. We returned him to his Mun with the other pups. And she accepted hm back in to the litter. When the pups were old enough to leave we decided to keep lucky. As we felt we couldn't part with him after all they had been through. Sadly three years ago we lost geargia she has a tumor on her spleen which was operated on but she did not recover we tried our best to keep her but sadly we had to let her go. After this lucky became very sad and lonely he might assess his mum and lost all his sparkle. He didn't Know how to live with out his mother. And eventually 2 years later he dies. My heart was broken lusing the both of them and I miss there company. I don't work so I am lonely I would love to meat Lucy she seems like she ,could be a good companion I miss my walks am would love to give her a home. I am free most days but next Wednesday I am st the Hospitial. Please let me know whem I can meet her. Hope to here from you soon. Dott Davies.

I had a lovely afternoon yesterday with Lucy! We joined some of Lucy's fellow residents in the Pet Blessing Service being held at St Augustines in Penarth. We let the rest of the gang (Ellie, Stan, Ginny, Cedric and ex residents Elsie and Stewie) set off first to give Lucy plenty of space. She could see all the other pooches in front of us but it was just the right distance for her that she felt comfortable. She walked really well and confidently to the church, Penarth Road traffic didn't bother her in the slightest, neither did the hustle and bustle that was going on in Penarth town centre. We hung around the grounds of the church for a bit but there were so many dogs going in, I didn't want to push Lucy out of her comfort zone so we headed back to CDH for a nice stroll on our own. We came back a different route which took us through a small park above the marina. It was a fab view and very quiet so we plonked ourselves down for a rest for 5 minutes. Lucy was happy to sit alongside me getting some face rubs and we just watched the kids playing in the basketball court. It was lovely to do things with Lucy that I would do with my own dogs, just sitting on the grass watching the world go by with the sunshine on us Lucy is such a special girl and she has so much love to give once she knows and trusts you. We were out around 3 hours yesterday and she was golden the whole time, I was so proud of her. I hope she enjoyed her afternoon half as much as I did Some pics from yesterday (thank you to Shelley for these, you do take a cracking photo ) You can see more pics from the day here

What a beautiful girl. I would love to see Lucy. My first dog Ellie was a gorgeous Ridgeback cross. I'd like to come and meet her so I shall ring tomorrow.

This girl is breaking my heart!!! She is so beautiful and the eyes pull me in every time i look at her? i truly don't understand why she is still in the home, i know a lot of people have said it, but she reminds me so much of my Ridgeback Reggie that we got from CDH Thirteen years ago and sadly lost a year and a half ago. We currently have a 8year old male whippet x and a two year old female border collie and four cats, will this be an issue for Lucy? I'll be truthful i really need to talk to my family about this but don't want to do this if you don't think she will get on with my cats/dogs, so at this point nothing has been decided just after some info. Thank you cherylle xxx

I think I've found my doggy doppelgänger...
Lucy and I not only share the same name, we also share many qualities that would qualify us as 'two peas in a pod'.
We posses the same glossy browney/auburn hair and we know how to swish it.
We are big girls with even bigger hearts.
We've got big brown eyes that would give 'puss in boots' a run for his money.
If you're kind, patient and generous with treats we will be your friend for life.
I've been walking Lucy for some time. I remember our first walk together. No cwtches, no tummy tickles, no fuss. Hardly any interaction between us. We just walked. I had been told by staff at the home that she was a very anxious girl and so I kept interaction between us to a minimum not to cause Lucy any upset. And so this continued for the next few times we spent together. I knew this girl needed her space and time to get to know me. Until a few walks down the line...
Just as with previous walks, I filled in the walking register, picked up some poo bags and stood and waited for Lucy. Knowing that as soon as I was handed the lead we would just get on with walking. How wrong i was.
As soon as she recognised me, those big brown eyes lit up, she bounded over to me and cwtched right up to my legs and kissed my hands. She finally let her guard down. Our usual walk had transformed into grass skids, rolly pollies, cuddles, kisses and high fives.
It had taken over a month for her to decide she was confident enough to come for a car ride too. On numerous occasions I had opened the back seat, the boot and the passenger seat to her but she was too nervous to venture inside. Until one time, I opened the car to get some treats out and she happily plonked herself in the passenger seat and looked at me to say, 'where are you taking me Luce???!!!!' She travels beautifully in the car. She loves having the window down to have the wind flapping through her ears! She has never barked at a passing cyclist, motorbike, pedestrian or dog whilst travelling In the car and you hardly hear a peep out of her if she is in the back with a treat.
Lucy has a circle of people that she trusts and believe me it takes a while for you to be in the circle! But as her confidence grows, I've taken her on walks with my boyfriend and my sister on separate occasions and she's greeted them like old friends. As long as Lucy is the one to greet you first then she's quite happy to spend time with you. She doesn't appreciate a pat on the head if she's never met you before and I can completely agree with her on that one!
I've only had a few occasions where other dogs have come into close proximity with Lucy. We love going for long walks near michaelston le pit. It's nice for her to be walked on a harness and long line. She seems so much more relaxed and its perfect to brush up on her recall (she is excellent at it) but whilst out on these long walks a few off lead dogs have run up to us. Every time I have shouted over to the owners that she is a nervous dog. The majority of people are very kind and understanding and put their dogs on a lead to give Lucy her space but there have been two occasions where the owners have ignored my warnings. One dog was bouncy and wanted to play but Lucy felt unsure and did not like the invasion of her space and so she did bark at the dog. This was suffice for bouncey dog to run back to his owner! At least the dog listened! She did everything right though, Lucy came back when i called her to a short line when I saw the other dog approaching and she stayed by my side until the dog had gone back to his owner. The other time, she was approached by a very calm dog who just sat a few inches away from Lucy after approaching us. Lucy didn't know quite what to make of said woofer so just looked at me in a confused manor (she has the most expressive eyes I have ever known a dog to have) to which I gave her reassurance and some treats. She sat next to me until the owner of the calm dog came to put her on a lead.
Luckily Lucy is very treat orientated and this will come in use with further training from her new family. She is also very easily distracted. She loves her squeaky toys!
Over the past few months, I'm not ashamed to say, Lucy has become my friend. Whenever I have a spare hour I find myself at the home spending it with this wonderful girl. She has transformed from scared and shy into such a vibrant and affectionate girl. I love spending time with her. She has bags of personality and is such an intelligent girl. She never ceases to amaze me. Today for instance, while we were playing in the sensory garden at the home, she trotted over to me, sat down and gently tapped my pocket twice to remind me that I had been particularly stingey with the treats this afternoon!
After every walk with Lucy I walk around the kennel blocks with treats for all the wonderful woofers waiting for their homes. Over the past few months the faces have changed in the majority of the kennels and its always a nice surprise when I get to a kennel with no dog in to find they have gone home. But my poor Lucy has been gracing kennel 32 for far too long.
So my Christmas wish this year is that Lucy is home with her forever family on Christmas Day.
If you give her your time. She will give you her heart. And she so deserves the time of a Kind and patient family that will allow her to flourish.
