Big breed lovers, prepare to lose your hearts to the oh so beautiful Lucy Lucy was very timid coming out of her kennel and seems bewildered to find herself at the Home. She has been a very much loved family pet, but due to a change of circumstances, Lucy has now found herself at CDH. Lucy is 5 years old and although she is carrying a couple of extra pounds (I feel your pain Lucy!) she seems in great condition and has an amazing set of pearly whites Lucy wasn't bothered about playing with her toys but did seek some comfort from cuddles. She really is an affectionate girl and was extremely gentle around us. She knows a few commands and does a lovely sit and paw We really hope Lucy isn't waiting long for her new family. She is a sweetheart with so much to offer! Good luck gorgeous girl x Lucy is available for rehoming on 26th June. If you'd like more information on her, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm UPDATE - Lucy has been moved into the stable block, as it is quieter and more peaceful for her, so if you'd like to meet her please ask for her by name.

I took lovely Lucy out for a walk today and she was fab! She's clearly housetrained as she was desperate to go as soon as we were out and in the lane, good girl She walks really well on the lead, although she's a big girl and I fully expected to be towed along, she hardly pulled at all and walked very nicely. She waited to cross roads with no fuss at all. We passed by a few dogs and Lucy hardly gave them a glance, and then stopped to chat to Gypsy's walker for a few minutes. Both girls were extremely calm, there was no issues whatsoever, they were more than happy to stand close to each other. Back in the garden, Lucy wasn't really interested in toys but she did enjoy having some back scratches and cuddles Then she decided it really was just too hot to do anything at all! I've never seen a dog lie like this I have to say! Clever girl sits instantly when asked too Lovely girl

Me and Lucy did a lovely three mile walk together on Saturday, what a girl! We had a lovely introduction with Susie and off we went, a super affectionate girl who kept looking up gently to check I was still there, no pulling just the odd sniff as we passed interesting hedges.
Lucy really needs a good loving home to settle in to!

I took lovely Lucy for a nice long walk on Sunday. She is a nervous girl and I wasn't sure how far we would get on our walk, but we did the whole of Penarth Road, around the Grangemoor Park and back again If she seems unsure of things on her walk, she doesn't react in any way, she just tries to keep herself away from them. She walks really well on her lead, she doesn't pull at all and goes at a nice pace. I think she would have loved to have a jog or a run, but unfortunately for Lucy, my running days are long gone If we have any runners amongst the Purple Pilgrims, it would be great if you could spend some time getting to know Lucy and get her out for a proper stretch of her legs! We had half hour in the garden when we got back which Lucy loved! She really enjoys a game of fetch and will bring the ball back almost every time for another throw. She is also happy just to mooch about, sniffing and listening to what's going on in the car park. Lucy really is a sweet, gentle girl. I've spent a bit of time with her over the last few weekends and once she knows and trusts you, she is golden. I watched her in the car park with Baglady, and the greeting that this pair gave each other was amazing. She is desperate for a home of her own and with the right family, she will make the most loyal and loving addition. She needs a quiet home where her family have the time and patience to let her develop at her own pace. If anyone is interested in Lucy, please take the time to get to know her. As I have said above, she doesn't always like visitors to her kennel but spend some time with her in the garden and you will see a different girl altogether Here are some pics from Sunday Yep - that IS fox poo This girl loves her tennis balls! Having a nice face rub All tuckered out Absolute beaut!

A pilgrim called Jemma joined on the same day as me, Sunday 30 August, and we walked George together. Jemma is a runner so it might be worth contacting her to see if she could run with Lucy? I don't know her surname, sorry

Had a lovely hour out with this stunning girl today She was keen to get going but settled to a nice Lucy pace fairly quickly. We had a stroll up and down the grass verge on the quiet side of Penarth Road as I could see the grass had been cut and rolling in the grass is one of her favourite things to do "mmmm, freshly cut grass you say??" "Only one thing for it, stand back and keep a tight hold of that lead whilst I roll" We stopped at the roadside for a bit of sit and paw practice which Lucy loves showing off! I rewarded her with some sausage and she rewarded me with a kiss And believe me, kisses from Lucy are very special! As ever, I loved my walk with Lucy. Once she knows and trusts you, she is the most amazing and affectionate girl. She will be such a loyal family member with so much to offer. She isn't going to give her heart away overnight, but I only see Lucy once a week and we have a bond and I know this is the case with other vol's that she only see's once or twice a week. To see her with Susie Baglady who she see's most regularly, brings a lump to my throat. She absolutely adores Susie (and the feeling is definitely mutual!) and this is just a little taster of the girl she will be will her forever family. Lucy, I am rooting for you sweetheart, your time will come soon, Im sure of it x (just want to say, despite what the pics look like, I really wasn't sat on the main strip of Penarth Road in the gutter with Lucy, it was in the quiet area over by the boat shop, far away from any traffic )
