Twizzle had a temporary respite period in foster with the lovely Carol but is now back at CDH looking for her very own forever sofa. Twizzle is a very sweet, very excitable brindle girlie, who has a very obvious injury to her shoulder. She has been seen by the vet who is sure that this is an old injury, probably a very bad dislocation, that was never treated. Poor lass. Twizzle hasn't been aged, but has all the exuberant enthusiasm of a youngster! When she is still (sitting and standing) she holds her front leg diagonally across her body, which looks a little disturbing, but it doesn't seem to bother her at all. Having said that, she isn't still for more than nanoseconds at a time, and was whizzing around the vet room like a little tornado! She did occasionally appear to forget that she only has 3 weight bearing legs, and lost her balance once or twice, but the look on her face was more to do with surprise than discomfort, and she seemed to love acting the clown! Twizzle will be available for rehoming from 10 July. She really is a delightful girlie! Little Twizzle can't live with cats and she can jump very high - so will need a really secure garden If you'd like more info, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road. Open daily 10.30 - 4pm

Took Twizzle out for a walk this morning - she was really keen to get going and didn't want to waste time. She behaves beautifully on the lead - waiting patiently when the children stopped to look at flowers etc. She was on her best behaviour when she passed other dogs and cyclists - not really interested in them. Took some treats really gently and loved the children making a fuss of her.

Bit of a late post - Sorry Twizzle. I took the little whirlwind of a Staffy out to the PAH M&G. While her dodgy leg looks a bit awkward it certainly doesn't stop this lovely girl! ;D She does do a brilliant sit though and is very treat orientated so could learn more commands I'm sure. She tried playing tug with her lead a few times so I bought her a toy which she seemed to love. She's very playful/busy! She's just another lovely girlie looking for her own family and someone to give her lots of attention. Good luck Twizzle finding your forever home. xx

This afternoon I had the pleasure of Twizzle's company - CDH's very own Paralympian! She doesn't let her dodgy leg get in the way of anything and she's a pretty determined little lady! I'm sure she could compete with any four legged friend in the 100m sprint! Having said that she seems to have calmed down from when I walked her a couple of weeks ago. No more pulling you like a train constantly (only occasionally when she wants to get going again!) and no more lead tugging at all! She did like to sit under things today! Bushes, picnic tables and even plonked herself down as we passed under the railway bridge on the way to Tellytubby hill! She did look up at the noise as a train went over but it didn't bother her too much. She loved a roll around in the grass and having belly rubs! She will be great company if you're looking for someone to cuddle and spoil. I have taken some photos but having trouble with photobucket tonight. Will have another go tomorrow.

I took Twizzle to her hydro session today at AquadogsShe is simply bursting with energy! She does seem to have a low boredom threshhold, but travelled beautifully in the car, crated and with an 'extreme' chew to keep her occupied. We'll take the camera with us on Friday, see if we can get some pictures of Twizzle Water Baby ;D I think I've heard that generally staffies don't particularly like water, but no-one has told Twizzle she's a staffie cross

If we could bottle Twizzles energy we'd be millionaires ;D I walked this livewire today and she is BURSTING with energy! Her lame leg doesnt hold her back in the slightest, she will walk and walk and walk!! She really enjoys being out and didnt seem fazed by anything. She walked past bikes, people and other dogs without any problems, its all about the walk for this girl!! I stopped at the benches by the river and Twiz promptly lept up on to the table, I dont think anyone has told her that she only has 3 working legs I noticed today how soft Twizzles fur is, she is really silky!! That could be due to the fact that she insists on giving herself a mud wrap at every muddle puddle she comes across (sorry Becky Thomas, I brought her back stinking!)

I took lovely Twizzle out today and she is so happy to be out and about. She is lively and full of energy but who wouldn't be if they had been in k2 for a while?? She doesn't jump up and she doesn't pull but youshe likes to go at her own speed (a brisk walk) but she will stop and wait when asked and when we walked down the slippy, muddy bit, she listened and slowed down for me. Her bad leg doesn't hold her back or bother her. If you go into the kennels and walk past k2, Twizzle will run out to say hello to you, she really does seem to be a friendly dog. The camera was, unfortunately, forgotten for this little lady today but.....WATCH THIS SPACE! Because I WILL be taking her out again

Carol has very kindly agreed to give Twizz a bit of a break from CDH Twizzle is still available for adoption, but she has been in kennels for such a long time, and we thought it would be nice for her to have a little hollibob, where she can enjoy all the home comforts for a week for two Thanks so much for doing this Carol, I can't tell you how lovely it is to see Twizz on a sofa

Breaking Twizzle news........ Twiz had the run of the kitchen and living room for the night. This consisted of numerous cushions, wrapping paper, Christmas tree (with chocs), furry slippers and a pile of lovingly wrapped presents. All fully intact this morning.... If anyone would like to come and see Twizzle in a home environment the invitation is here, just get in touch with Susie aka Baglady.
