It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that Patch had to be put to sleep this afternoon. He has been unwell for a few months & lost a lot of weight. He had tests and they discovered a tumour on his liver. He gradually got weaker and weaker and the vet said that there was nothing else they could do. We are all very sad and just hope that we made his last 8 months a happy one. Thank you again to everyone at CDH.

Rip Patch.....I know that he has gone to the bridge knowing he has had the best 8 months with you. And thankyou for taking on an oldie and giving him the love they so deserve. I had my oldie only a short time too but I wouldn't of changed it for the world.x

So very sad for your loss Patch was so very lucky that he was able to feel soft grass on his back, and the warmth of the sun on his back before he made his journey to the bridge. There are many dogs like Patch in pounds all over the UK, who don't get the opportunity to be loved and cared for, and whose fate ends very differently. Thank you so much for taking him into your hearts and into your home. Rest easy Patch, loved and never forgotten

Thanks guys. Feeling a bit better today after a tough day yesterday. Just have to get used to him not being around. If you could transfer this to rainbow bridge I would be grateful. Thank you again. X

I'm so very pleased that I had the privilege of spending a short time with wonderful Patch before he went to his fabulous forever home.
He was such a gentleman to be around - dignified and gentle. No wonder his family wanted him.
What you did for Patch was an amazing thing and I know everyone is grateful you made his last months so special.
He will be missed but especially by you, of course. Give yourselves some time to grieve but hopefully this will be alleviated a bit by the knowledge that you did a really special thing by opening your heart and home to him.
RIP wonderful Patch. You touched us all

Patch had a lovely old man woof that he could put all the pups in their place with. We often mention him. So sorry to hear this sad news. How amazing it is that you found him though and gave him a loving home xx
