Max was my first appointment as a new volunteer walker - and what a fantastic way to start.
This boy is wonderful. Gentle, fur like a teddy bear and a smile the size of the Severn Bridge!
He loves a sniff and likes to wander around to pick up the best scents but as soon as you ask him to walk steadily alongside you, he responds.
We had a bit of a run, he's not quite as fit as Tyson yet but is really brave and game to give it a go.
He also has a greaty party trick in that he likes to drink his water straight from the bottle. There I was, trying to pour it nicely into the dish I had with me and he was having none of it. "Just pour it" was what he seemed to be saying - so I did and he lapped it up.
I've got some great pictures of this boy with the million dollar smile and as soon as I get advice on uploading them from my i-phone, I will
He's just plain lovely

I always get smiles from passers by when I walk Max.. and it is not hard to see why: He is such a babe and I found myself calling him Maxy Boo Boo, Maxy baby and all sorts (!?!) - he truely is an affectionate dog with so much character. He makes me smiiiile so much when I walk him. Oh how I wish I could have him for my own! xxxxxx

Couldn't resist a wander round the kennels when I brought Roxy for an injection today. Was especially looking forward to meeting the two big boys (Max and Hank/George), and so glad I did! Poor Max sat there looking up at me, after all this time he must be so used to people coming and going and leaving him there, it's obvious this boy needs a loving home to call his own. So... I was a bit naughty... Picked up an application form!! Fully intend to spend more time with this chap, and if he and Roxy Boxy get on, there's a massive space on my sofa that would be perfect...

Thanks Sarah! He just had this expression like he'd given up hope sat in his kennel when I saw him this morning. I'm moving to a bigger place in a few weeks with massive Llandaf fields literally about 20 yards from my front door, which means lots of nice long walkies! Will see if I can visit him and spend some proper time with him at the weekend, without Roxy at first, then we'll go from there I would be thrilled if all goes well and I can take him home, people keep saying I need a man in my life and he's just my type! Lol! He would be loved and squished and spoilt just like Roxy is until the end of his days. Everything crossed xx

Sarah you lovely lady! I walked past max in his kennel early this afternoon and I have to admit he had a little sparkle in his eye. He must know you're thinking of him. Good luck. I hope it works out for the three of you. Xxx

Well, it'll be 4 of us all together! Got a big place to share with a friend, he loves dogs and I'm planning to drag him up on Monday to meet Max, so plenty of walkies would ensue! And there'll always be a spare human to cuddle if one of us is being sat on and hogged, lol. Breaks my heart to see such a beautiful, sweet boy without a home of his own, especially as he'd had a horrible time before CDH came to the rescue. Let's just hope Roxy behaves herself when the time comes to say hello to each other, minimal bouncing would be good! At weekends all Roxy and I do is cuddle, munch, go for long walks and have loads of fun, would love to give Max the same happy and secure life

If Max has not been found a home..I have a lovely country residence waiting for him. I lost both of my dogs to old age four years ago, I have had rotties in the past and I am now in need of some Doggy company. I will ring in tomorrow

I promise, if Max becomes a resident here he will have the best of everything including cuddles and all the attention he demands plus his own full size divan bed There are some lovely walks nearby what with the Forest of Dean only a few miles up the road. It is very quite here for a Cardiff guy so I was thinking perhaps a doggy pool party now and then will do the trick lol ;D
